Perodua launches Aruz 7-seater SUV

The 1.5-litre seven-seater, priced from RM72,900, is eligible for the fuel subsidy to be initiated later this year

Perodua has launched the all-new Aruz. The seven-seater rear-wheel drive SUV is available in two trim levels, the 1.5 X and the 1.5 Advance (AV). Paired with a four-speed automatic gearbox, output from the naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre unit is 103bhp and 133Nm of torque. The Aruz has EEV status with class-leading claimed fuel consumption of 15.6km/L. It is also eligible for the fuel subsidy when it is launched later this year.

The configurable cabin of the Aruz seats up to seven: two in front, three in the middle and two in the third row.  The seat backs can be folded down to create an extended flat length to transport long items. The second row has sliding seats for easier access to the rear or to increase floor space in the boot. When the third row seats are in use, the luggage area is 213 litres. This increases to 514 litres when the third row is folded away.

The Aruz comes with LED headlights and rear lamps, 17-inch alloy rims, keyless entry and push button ignition, build-in toll card reader, six speakers, overhead rear air vents, two USB ports and two 12-volt power sockets. There is also a hook between the front seats to secure bags. The AV gets additional features: fog lights, leather seats instead of fabric, automatic headlights, a multimedia system with navigation and smartphone mirroring for Android phones.

Standard safety features in the Aruz include six airbags, ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution, Brake Assist, stability control, traction control, emergency stop signal, hill-start assist, reverse camera, ISOFIX child safety seat fixtures, solar and security window film. The Aruz has five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

The higher spec AV gets an integrated driving video recorder and the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0, a suite of additional safety features: pre-collision warning, pre-collision braking, an alert when the vehicle in front has moved forward and Pedal Misoperation Control which suppresses engine surge if the driver accidentally stomps on the accelerator pedal.

The Aruz is Perodua’s first SUV in 10 years since the Perodua Nautica. The all-wheel drive compact SUV was based on the Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Rush. The Aruz is based on the long-wheelbase variant of the current generation Terios.

Five exterior paint colours are Amazon Green, Granite Grey, Electric Blue, Glittering Silver and Ivory White.

The Perodua Aruz is offered with a five-year/150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first). Prices start from RM72,900 for the Aruz 1.5 X and RM77,900 for the Aruz 1.5 Advance. Both prices are on-the-road, before insurance in Peninsular Malaysia.

As an added bonus, from 9 January onwards, all customers who purchase Perodua Total Protect Plus motor insurance will not only enjoy free Perodua Auto Assist benefits but also free unlimited unnamed drivers, flood allowance up to RM1,000 and Personal Accident coverage up to RM10,000.
