Chery Tiggo 9 now in Malaysia, from RM167k

Chery Tiggo 9 launched with two Early Bird Launch packages, Flexi and Prime

Chery Tiggo 9, Chery’s flagship is now in Malaysia. In a first, Chery Malaysia is offering the Tiggo 9 with two Early Bird Launch packages, the basic Flexi which is RM166,800, and the Prime which is RM179,800 and comes with a RM5000 cash rebate, RM3000 petrol subsidy and one year’s insurance worth RM4500. The duration of the Early Bird Launch promo or whether the offer is limited to a set number of units has not been specified.

As standard, irrespective of launch package, the Chery Tiggo 9 comes with the following:

• Seven years or up to 150,000km (whichever comes first) vehicle warranty
• 10 years or up to 1,000,000km (whichever comes first) engine warranty
• Five years all-inclusive free service

The Chery Tiggo 9 is a seven-seater premium SUV. It is the first Chery Malaysia vehicle with all-wheel drive and comes with refinements like puddle lights, 14-speaker Sony premium sound system and acoustic windscreen to reduce noise intrusion into the cabin.

At the front, the distinctive 3D diamond-shaped grille is flanked by LED headlights. The LED tail lamps feature a distinguishable diamond-inspired light signature. There are also 20-inch alloy wheels.

The Tiggo 9 is 4810mm long, 1925mm wide, and 1741mm tall with a wheelbase of 2800mm. The luggage capacity is flexible, ranging from 143 litres to 2,065 litres available depending on the seating arrangement.

There’s a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 252hp (256PS) and 390Nm of torque paired with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The fuel tank is 65 litres. The intelligent all-wheel drive has seven drive modes, Eco, Normal, Sport, Sand, Mud, Snow and Off-Road.

The front seats are ventilated with massage function. The driver has a 10-way powered seat with memory. Rear passengers have dedicated climate control, individual air vents, as well as privacy glass and window shades

The infotainment display is 15.6-inch with operating system powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include four-way power adjustable steering column, 50W wireless charging pad with cooling system, driver’s Head-Up Display and 64-colour dynamic ambient lighting.

The Chery Tiggo 9 meets global five-star safety standards. The body is 85% high-strength steel and there are 10 airbags. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) has 23 features and a 540º camera. The automatic park assist detects suitable parking spaces, and helps with both getting into and out of the lot. It also controls steering, acceleration and braking while parking.
