Chery Tiggo 9, seven-seater, D-segment SUV with AWD
Chery Tiggo 9, Chery’s flagship SUV, is set to launch later this year. At the media preview, the estimated launch price was below RM189,000. The Tiggo 9 goes up against the Mazda CX-8, Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe, Jaecoo J8 and Omoda C9.
The D-segment, seven-seater is 4810mm long, 1925mm wide, and 1741mm tall with a wheelbase of 2800mm. The Tiggo 9 has a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 252hp (256PS) and 390Nm of torque paired with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The fuel tank is 65 litres. There is intelligent all-wheel drive with seven drive modes, Eco, Normal, Sport, Sand, Mud, Snow and Off-Road.
Inside the upholstery is leather. The front seats are ventilated with massage function. The driver’s seat is 10-way powered with memoryThe infotainment display is 15.6-inch and there are 14 -speakers for the Sony Premium Audio sound system. Other features include four-way power adjustable steering column, 50W wireless charging pad with cooling system, driver’s Head-Up Display and second and third row air-conditioning.
The Chery Tiggo 9 meets global five-star safety standards. The body is 85% high-strength steel and there are 10 airbags. There are also 23 Advanced Driver Assistance System features and 540º camera. The automatic park assist detects suitable parking spaces, and helps with both getting into and out of the lot. It also controls steering, acceleration and braking while parking.
Aside from the estimated selling price at less than RM189,000, there will be the standard seven years/ up to 150,000km vehicle warranty, the seven years/up to 150,000km engine warranty as well as early bird deals at the Chery Tiggo 9 launch.
