Denza B8 launched, now in Malaysia from RM460k

Denza B8 plug-in hybrid SUV available it two variants, Dynamic and Premium

The Denza B8 is now in Malaysia. The SUV is the first dual mode off-road (DMO) super hybrid, meaning it is the first plug-in hybrid all-wheel drive, from Denza in the Malaysia market. There are two variants, the seven-seater Dynamic from RM459,939 and six-seater Premium from RM519,939. Both prices are on-the-road without insurance.

The B8 is 5195mm long, 1994mm wide and 1905mm high. The wheelbase is 2920mm. The tyres and rims are 275/55 R20. Vehicles of similar size are the Toyota Land Cruiser, Range Rover Sport and Volvo EX90.

The Dynamic and Premium have intelligent all-wheel drive and DiSUS-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System, a hydraulic-based independent active suspension system which is more durable than air suspension. DiSus-P monitors changes in driving surface conditions and provides real-time continuous adjustments for composed and controlled ride stability and comfort whether on highways, city roads or on uneven terrain.

Power is from a 2.0-litre engine with dual electric motors with a combined output of 603hp and 760Nm of torque. The system switches seamlessly between pure EV, HEV, series and parallel fuel modes optimising power based on driving conditions.

The BYD Blade Battery is 36.8kWh and the fuel tank is 91-litres. This works out to 115km (NEDC) all-electric range and a claimed NEDC range of over 1000km.

AC charging is 11kW while the DC charging is up to 120kW which takes 16 minutes to recharge from 30% to 80%. There is also 6.6kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply.

Outside the design language is Starship Mecha-inspired, highlighted by Starship Wing LED daytime running lights and Energy-Thruster-inspired tail lamps in a boxy body.

Inside there are leather seats in both variants although the Premium gets Nappa leather. The configurations are as follows:

• Denza B8 Premium (6-seater) with second-row captain seats and integrated ottomans, with ventilation and massage function
• Denza B8 Dynamic (7-seater) with a second-row bench featuring electric recline and ventilation

Both second and third-row seats have electric folding and adjustments enabling the boot capacity to vary from 147litre to 920litres for the seven-seater and to 902 litres in the six-seater.

Across the B8 range, the Devialet 18-speaker premium audio system is standard.

There are five exterior colours:

• Alpine White
• Dawn Gold
• Eclipse Black
• Emerald Green
• Nebula Silver

and two interior themes, Onyx Black and Jasper brown which can be paired with any of the exterior colours.
