All-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ with 792km WLTP range, recharge to 325km range in just 10 minutes
The all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ is now in Malaysia. With 800V electrical architecture and two-speed transmission, the state-of-the-art CLA has low consumption and high efficiency. The WLTP range is 792km with DC charging up to 320kW, enabling recharging to 325km in 10 minutes. MB.Charge Public is available on the electric CLA via the Mercedes‑Benz App.
The two-speed transmission is on the rear axle. The first gear has a short ratio of 11:1, for sharp acceleration right from the start and efficiency in urban traffic. The second gear (ratio: 5:1) is for power delivery at higher speeds and higher efficiency on the highway for long-distance range and comfort. The top speed is 210km/h, achieved in the second gear. Zero to 100km/h takes 6.7 seconds.
Another highlight of the model described by Mercedes-Benz as the “cleverest” ever made is that the all-electric CLA is the first Mercedes to operate entirely on the MB.OS. The in-house developed operating system controls three areas of the car: infotainment, body & comfort, and driving & charging. Third-party software was developed in collaboration with Google and Microsoft for seamless integration including a Mercedes-Benz customised navigation system based on Google Maps. MB.OS is connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, enabling over-the-air updates for the entire vehicle software, including driving assistance systems. MB.OS enables more efficient software performance and consumes significantly less energy compared to the previous system.
In addition, MB.OS runs MBUX Virtual Assistant, the world’s first in-car infotainment system to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) from both Microsoft and Google, combining multiple AI agents in one system for the first time. The AI system is able to plan journeys, forecast battery depletion and remaining range and route journeys according to fastest route and charging convenience. Virtual Assistant is also able to detect moods and respond accordingly with colour-coded feedback.
Physically, the all-electric CLA is around 40mm longer than its predecessor with an increased wheelbase of more than 60mm to 2790mm. This gives the driver and front passenger more legroom (plus 11mm). There is now also a higher roofline with a panoramic roof which is heat-insulating laminated safety glass. Headroom has been improved by 16mm and 28mm for front and rear passengers respectively.
The suspension concept from the mid- and full-size classes is now also in the CLA. The vehicle has steel-sprung comfort suspension featuring a newly developed three-link front axle. Meanwhile, at the rear is a newly developed multi-link axle.
At the front, the CLA has a shark-nose design with a new front panel with illuminated Mercedes-Benz pattern consisting of the three-pointed star and 142 chrome-effect stars. There are multibeam LED headlights with adaptive highbeam assist plus and daytime running lights.
The doors are frameless with chrome trim with the. The wing mirrors are mounted on the beltline. There are also retractable flush door handles to optimise aerodynamics.
At the rear are star-shaped taillights with a connecting lightbar. There is a rear diffuser in high-gloss black and 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.
New in a Mercedes-Benz is a front trunk. This gives 101L of additional luggage space. The boot at the rear is 405L
Inside, the CLA 250+ has AMG Line interior and AMG Line Sports Seat Package with Artico man-made nappa-look leather upholstery and Microcut microfibre. The new multifunctions sports steering wheel is clad in nappa leather.
A key feature is the floating MBUX Superscreen, which extends across the entire interior width. Behind a large glass surface are the LCD 10.25-inch driver display and two LCD 14-inch central and passenger displays. Round air vents flank the MBUX Superscreen.
In another first, for safety, there is a centre airbag between the driver and front passenger, as standard. There is also a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance System features. The CLA is the safest car in its class.
