Volkswagen unveils all-new Tiguan

The Tiguan received its official launch at the 2017 Singapore Motor Show but Volkswagen also had a prelaunch event for their compact crossover.

Based on the MQB platform on which most of Volkswagen’s models are currently built on, the second generation all-new Tiguan has sportier, more rugged looks. Lower than its predecessor by 33mm, the body is also bigger and longer, making the interior roomier. The wheelbase has increased by 77mm to 2681mm.

The Tiguan is offered in two variants. The front-wheel drive only 150bhp, 250Nm 1.4 TSI engine powered entry-level Tiguan Highline and the R-Line which has a 2.0-litre, 220bhp, 350Nm engine and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The R-Line is also stacked with a whole host of safety and convenience equipment, including Adaptive Cruise Control and Front Assist with City Emergency Braking.
