2024 Proton X50 price unchanged, now with RM6000 worth of upgrades
2024 Proton X50 has launched with RM6000 worth of additional equipment and upgrades. There’s a new 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment head unit with a new dual quad-core processor for faster boot-up and loading speed, high definition 360º 3D camera and also a power tailgate for the Premium and Flagship variants. There is also the Proton Link app which features remote start to start the engine and cool the cabin remotely. The cabin is now quieter as NVH has been improved over 20 areas.
Proton held a media preview of the 2024 X50 to showcase its attributes and provide an opportunity to experience the new features at Proton’s Shah Alam headquarters. This included a demonstration of the Electronic Stability Control. Then, we drove the SUV on the banked test track at speeds of between 60 to 100km/h. This was to experience the improved NVH and quieter cabin. Finally, we got to assess high definition 360 camera. The objective was to drive the X50 over a designated course marked out by cones then reverse back to the starting point without knocking over the cones. The windscreen and side windows are covered so we only had the camera to navigate. The catch, there were also 500ml bottles of mineral water along the course and at the end, at the last set of cones.
Since launch in 2020, the Proton X50 has sold more than 110,000 units, making it Malaysia’s best-selling SUV over the last four years. The engine is 1.5-litre and there is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It has features like LED headlights and taillights, LCD instrument cluster, automatic climate control with N95 cabin filter, panoramic sunroof, rear air vents, and dual-tone interior. The X50 also has auto parking assistance, hands-free parallel and perpendicular parking. There is also “Hi! Proton” voice assistance.
The L2 Advanced Driver Assistance System features include Adaptive Cruise Control, collision warning and autonomous emergency braking. There are also six airbags, ABS brakes, electronic stability control and tyre pressure monitoring.
