First all-electric powered Mini debuts on 61st birthday of the iconic Mini, RM218,500
The first all-electric Mini is now in Malaysia. The three-door hatch is the same size as the petrol Mini Cooper S, has characteristic Mini looks and some styling cues unique to the electric model. There is a model-specific bumper and radiator grille in Vigorous Grey with yellow E-Badge. Grille blades will be available in two colours: Vigorous Grey or Energetic Yellow. The charging flap has an embossed E-badge in body colour. The tailgate handle is in Vigorous Grey. The model badge and E-Badge have yellow accents, along with the model-specific rear bumper with diffuser.

The single speed transmission drives the synchronous electric motor which is capable of up to 135kw/184bhp and 270Nm of torque. There is also a 12-module T-shaped battery unit with a net capacity of 28.9kWh. Consumption is 16.8-14.8kWh per 100km of travel. The century sprint takes 7.3 seconds. Maximum speed is 150km/h. The driving range is around up to 234km (WLTP) or 270km (NEDC).
The Electric Mini can be charged from empty to 80 per cent charge in 36 minutes at a DC charging station. The Mini Wallbox Plus charges up to 80 per cent within two and a half hours. At home, the MINI can be charged to 80% in 12 hours with the yellow contingency charging cable, available with the vehicle. The charging progress of the new Mini can be viewed on the inside of the charging flap. The high voltage battery is also charged during braking.
The camera-based Driver Assistant system makes its debut in the electric Mini. The package consists of several features including brake mitigation to increase brake response and minimise collision force. The Electric Mini also has ark Assistant, front and rear Park Distance Control, Cruise Control with braking function, along with the Wired packages as standard.
Standard features on the Electric Mini are Matrix LED headlights, LED rear lights in Union Jack design, E-Badge on the side scuttle, aero-optimitised mirror caps in Black or Energetic Yellow and 17-inch wheels in Mini Electric Power Spoke two-tone with run flat tyres.
The Electric Mini has features specific to the electric model like actuator-contiguous wheel slip limiter (ARB) function which significantly improves traction by providing faster control. The function also reduces power understeering characteristic of front-wheel drive vehicles. The rear axle is configured to the front axle, which features electric-specific steering knuckles; this enables an electric-specific suspension setting in combination with the body-mounted wheelhouse liners.
The interior styling of this Mini is also exclusive: Mini Electric Cockpit Fascia, Mini Electric Start/Stop button in Yellow, Mini Electric velour floor mats, an electronic selector lever with Electric design, as well as the brake energy recuperation toggle. The interior rear-view mirror with anti-dazzle function is also standard.
The cabin features dual-zone automatic air conditioning, Leather Cross Punch seats in Carbon Black as well as the Mini 12-Colour Illuminated ambient lighting. The multifunction sport leather steering wheel and raised centre console with integrated electric parking brake are also available as standard to the vehicle. As with the MINI Cooper S, the luggage capacity is also 211 litres expandable up to 731 litres.
Navigation is available, via a 8.8-inch Mini Navigation System equipped with the full Mini Connected suite. There are also Head Up Display, and a 12-Speaker Harman Kardon Sound System. There is also wireless charging function for mobile phones.
The Digital Instrument Cluster debuts in the electric Mini. It is capable of displaying key information on the charging status of the vehicle such as remaining time, percentage of charge, available range and also temperature outside the vehicle. It can also display the current MINI Driving Mode, which then calibrates the colour shown on the light ring in the central instrument accordingly – red (SPORT mode), white (MID) or green (GREEN and GREEN+).
Additionally, the digital instrument cluster also presents the driver with information on traffic sign detection reports and high-guiding directions from the navigation system. Telephone contacts and audio programme lists can also be accessed via the system.
The Mini Connected app provides details on the charging status of the Mini. A timer can also be set to ensure the vehicle is fully charged before. Driving stats can also be found to improve driving efficiency.
The all-electric Mini is available in White Silver with Energetic Yellow, the British Racing Green, and Chili Red. It comes with four years unlimited mileage warranty, eight years or 100,000 kilometres High Voltage Battery Warranty with Free Scheduled Service. The all-new Electric Mini with Sales Tax Exemption* (on the road for personal registration, without insurance) is RM 218,500
