Bookings for the new Honda Civic is now open ahead of official launch

Honda Malaysia has officially opened bookings for the refreshed new Honda Civic ahead of its official launch in Quater 4 2019. Bookings can be done at all 98 Honda dealerships nationwide. With 50,000 units sold as of August 2019, the Civic is the best selling C-segment model in Malaysia. And since its first launch in 2016, the Civic has captured 82% of the C-segment market share as of July 2019.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr Toichi Ishiyama said, “Over the years, the Civic continues to hold the leadership position in the C-segment. It has sold more than 133,000 units in Malaysia since its first introduction in 2001 and celebrated a historic milestone with the delivery of the 130,000th Civic in early May this year. We are confident that the New Civic will not only continue to live up to its name but also offer D-segment features with a sportier appearance and dynamic performance. The New Civic is the third Completely Knock-Down (CKD) model from Honda Malaysia to be introduced with Honda SENSING – the Next-Generation Advanced Safety Technology – which offers a complete package that we believe will be attractive to customers in Malaysia.”

What’s new in the new Honda Civic

Like in the bigger Honda CR-V, the refreshed Civic will get the full Honda SENSING suite active driver assistance systems. Honda SENSING delivers three categories of safety suites that comprise eight features. They are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Auto High-Beam (AHB) – all of which will provide Driver’s Cruising Aid, Frontal Collision Deterrence and Side Collision Deterrence.

Likewise, the new Civic will also get the Honda LaneWatch camera. Other new standard features include Remote Engine Start, Electric Parking Brake and the latest feature, the Front Sensor. It also comes with standard safety features including six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and ISO Fix.

Looking at the image provided by Honda Malaysia, eagle-eyed readers will notice that the refreshed Civic received a minor revision on the front bumper, while there are no other angles of the car has been provided in pictures. But what we do know is that it gets a new rear bumper garnish, tailgate spoiler, black front grille and 18-inch alloy wheel (also new).

The only thing that is unchanged is the powertrain; the refreshed civic is powered by the same 170 Hp 1.5-litre VTEC turbocharged engine. Mated to it is a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) transmission, channelling the engine’s 220Nm of torque at peak to the Civic’s front wheels.

The New Civic is now available for bookings at any of Honda’s 98 authorised dealers nationwide. For more information, customers can call Honda’s Toll-Free number at
