BYD M6 available in two variants, 420km Standard and 530km Extended range
BYD M6 is now available in Malaysia. The C-segment seven-seater front-wheel drive, all-electric multipurpose vehicle (MPV) is available in two variants, the Standard which has a range of 420km (NECD) and Extended which has a range of 530km (NEDC). For size, the M6 is between the Toyota Veloz and Toyota Innova, neither of which is fully electric. Against other all-electric MPVs, there is only the Maxus MIFA 9 which is a full-size MPV.
The M6 Standard battery capacity is 55.4kWh. The AC charging rate is 7kW while the DC charging rate is 89kW. Maximum power is 120kW (approximately 161bhp) while maximum torque is 310Nm with a 0-100km/h sprint time of 10.1 seconds.
The M6 Extended battery capacity is 71.8kWh. The AC charging rate is 7kW, the DC charging rate is 115kW. The DC charging time from 10% to 80% is 40 minutes. Maximum power is 150kW (approximately 201bhp) with identical maximum torque to the Standard at 310Nm. The 0-100km/h sprint time of 8.6 seconds.
The BYD M6 comes with NFC Digital Key Function which allows the user to lock, unlock and start their car with a compatible smartphone or wearable device. This feature works even if the smartphone has no network or has a low battery. Currently, compatible devices are iPhone and Android mobile phones and Apple Watch.

Externally, both variants are identical. There is the “Dragon Face” front of the M6 which is flanked by LED headlights with LED daytime running lights. At the rear, there is an LED taillight bar. The rims are 17-inch alloys.
Inside, both variants are, again, identical. There is the 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment monitor which has become the hallmark of BYD EVs. There is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, twin wireless charging tray and charging ports. At the rear, there are also multiple charging ports. The M6 has an optional extra feature: a karaoke microphone feature for family singalongs when the vehicle is stationary.
The boot is 180 litres with all seven seats up. With the second and third row folded down, this expands to 580litres
In addition, the M6 has Vehicle-to-Load V2L which can be used to power electric devices. Each socket includes overload protection.
The BYD M6 is available in four colours:
- Crystal White
- Ink Stone Blue
- Cosmos Black
- Harbour Grey
The Standard variant is RM109,800. The Extended variant is RM123,800. Both prices are on-the-road without insurance.
In addition the BYD M6 comes with six years or 150,000 kilometres for the vehicle, eight years or 160,000 kilometres with a State of Health (SOH) above 70% for the battery warranty and eight years or 150,000 kilometres for the drive unit.
