Precautionary Recall: Honda cars affected

A precautionary recall has been issued by Honda Malaysia for 1527 vehicles: 1068 Honda City and Honda City Hatchbacks, 434 HR-V SUVs and 116 BR-V SUVs

Honda Malaysia has issued a precautionary recall for the following Honda models:

  • BR-V (2021 year model)
  • HR-V (2020 year model)
  • City (2021 year model)
  • City Hatchback (2022 year model)

The recall affects 1527 cars.

For the City and City Hatchback, the recall is for a loose nut torque on the Alternating Current Generator (ACG). According to Honda Malaysia, this is a precautionary safety recall. They will inspect the nut tightening on the ACG terminal of the engine harness. This may be loose and cause poor contact at the terminal. This would result in a battery malfunction: the engine halting while driving or the driver being unable to start the engine after the car stops. The models affected are 1,068 units of City 2021 Year Model and City Hatchback 2022 Year Model.

For the HR-V and BR-V, the recall relates to the inspection of the bolt earth grounding tightness.
This is also a precautionary safety measure to inspect the tightening of bolt earth grounding that may lead to a loose wire harness. This may cause poor contact on the terminal. As a result the engine would  stop while driving or be unable to start the engine after the car stops. The models affected are 343 units of HR-V 2020 Year Model and 116 units of BR-V 2021 Year Model.

Affected customers will be informed via notification letters. The letters will include details of the product recall. Customers should contact a Honda authorised dealer to make an appointment to have their vehicles checked and repaired if required, subject to parts availability.

The inspection, repair and replacement of the affected parts are free of charge and all costs related to this recall activity will be borne by Honda Malaysia.
