Mercedes-AMG cars now from RM380k

Three compact models launched with Mercedes-AMG A 35 4matic Edition 1 hatchback at RM379,888

Three Mercedes-AMG compact cars are now available in Malaysia. They are the A 35 4matic Edition 1, the A 45 S 4matic+ Edition 1 and the CLA 45 S 4matic+.

Edition 1 denotes a limited production run. These are not rare models, just less of them are produced. The Edition 1 models also have special equipment not available in the standard versions. “S” in the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4matic+ and the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4matic+ means they’re both higher-specification cars with more features than the standard Mercedes-AMG model. The 4matic is all-wheel drive, the 4matic+ is all-wheel drive with AMG Torque Control.

The A 45 and CLA 45 have the most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine manufactured for series production. The newly developed 2.0-litre engine produces 421bhp, 40bhp more power than the the preceding engine. Maximum torque has also gone up, from 475 to 500Nm. The engines are produced in Affalterbach and every one is stamped with the name of the engineer who built it.

Both models have eight-speed dual-clutch gearboxes. The sprint time from standing to 100km/h is 3.9 seconds for the A 45 S 4matic+ hatchback while the CLA 45 S 4matic+ saloon does it in 4.0 seconds. The top speed for both variants is 270km/h. The 4matic+ all-wheel drive has an added feature, AMG Torque Control. The 45 models  also have AMG Dynamics, which uses the all-wheel drive to enhance ESP functions to improve agility. In addition, in Race mode there is also Drift mode.

The A 35 at RM379,888 is the most affordable Mercedes-AMG model in Malaysia. It is powered by a 2.0-litre engine with 306bhp and 400Nm of torque. The transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The 0-100km/h time is 4.7 seconds, top speed is 250km/h.

Both hatchbacks come in the limited Edition 1 package with the AMG Aerodynamics package and the AMG Night package.

The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4matic Edition 1 is available in metallic denim blue with decals in matt Tech Gold on the exterior mirror caps and in the lower part of the doors, 19-inch AMG wheels painted in matt Tech Gold. The radiator grill has twin louvres, AMG Line front apron with flics on the air intakes, a front splitter and silver chrome trims on the louvres in the outer air intakes. At the rear, are two single round tailpipes.

On the inside, the A35 has AMG Performance seats and AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in nappa leather.

The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4matic+ Edition 1 has AMG radiator grille with louvres in silver chrome plus bonnet with power domes, 19-inch AMG wheels with red painted brake calipers and the two twin tailpipe trims to distinguish it from the A 35 4matic

The A 45 paint finish is sun yellow with decal graphics in the contrasting colour designo mountain grey magno. A reverse combination with designo mountain grey magno paintwork and decals in sun yellow is available as an alternative. Both variants of the Edition 1 are shod with matt black 19-inch wheels with decorative wheel caps in a central-locking look. The louvres in the radiator grille of the Edition 1 are silver chrome.

AMG TRACK PACE: Data logger for use on the race track
AMG TRACK PACE, the virtual race engineer, is available in all three models. The software is part of the MBUX infotainment system. On the race circuit, it continuously monitors more than 80 vehicle-specific data (e.g. speed, acceleration) with lap and sector times are displayed. The driver is able to see whether they are currently faster or slower than the best time without reading numbers because the details are shown in green or red.

The driver can use the data to analyse and  improve their driving skills. In addition, acceleration and deceleration values (e.g. 0-100 km/h, ¼ mile, 100-0 km/h) can be measured and saved.

There’s also a newly developed algorithm which determines the vehicle position as precisely as possible. AMG TRACK PACE even detects when the circuit has been left or it has been shortened. This is done using GPS data as well as the sensors available in the vehicle (acceleration, gyroscope, steering angle, wheel speeds).

The data are displayed on the multimedia display, in the instrument cluster and on the optional head-up display. Well-known race tracks like the Nürburgring or Spa Francorchamps, are already in the system. It is also possible to record your own circuits. The map display can be switched from 2D to 3D and updated online.

The MBUX Augmented Reality function also allows the ideal line of a stored race track to be displayed on the multimedia display or optional head-up display, allowing the driver to improve lap times with a virtual instructor on board.

Stay connected with Mercedes me Connect
The Mercedes me connect app houses all remote access services from remote start to vehicle tracker. It also provides a quick snapshot of the mileage, fuel level, tyre pressure, fluids and more.

The MBUX infotainment system is also coming up with the AMG-specific displays. The AMG-specific displays has emotionally appealing presentations underline the clear control structure and feature brilliant maximum-resolution 3D graphics. Hence, the customer can choose between the three AMG display styles “Classic”, “Sport” and “Supersport” for the instrument cluster. And needless to say, the trailblazing voice control activated with the words “Hey Mercedes” is also on-board. Thanks to artificial intelligence, MBUX recognises and understands nearly all sentences from the fields of infotainment and vehicle operation, even if they are expressed indirectly.
