Volvo Car Malaysia announced refreshed XC90 SUV flagship

The refreshed Volvo XC90 SUV gets light exterior tweaks, active safety augmentations and minor drivetrain updates for the T8 variant 

Volvo Car Malaysia has released details on the refreshed XC90 SUV and it is available for viewing from November onwards. The updates Volvo XC90 reviewed minor exterior and interior updates, active safety augmentations and increased plug-in hybrid battery capacity.

The XC90’s evergreen look has been tweaked slightly with a redesigned front grille which is now curved in, new alloy wheel designs and updated front bumper design. The refreshed XC90 comes in five colours: the existing Crystal White Pearl, Denim Blue Metallic and Onyx Black Metallic, together with the new Pebble Grey Metallic and Thunder Grey Metallic hues.

As for the uppermost T8 range, the PHEV’s battery capacity has seen a slight increment from 10.4kWh to 11.6kWh which increases the all-electric range up to 50km, an additional 7km over the previous 43km range under the New European Driving Cycle. The updated T8 also gets the redesigned Orrefors glass crystal drive selector.

The base T5 model now comes with third-row air conditioning with c-pillar vents, road sign information system (RSI) as well as 4-zone electronic climate control, and cooled glove box from the range-topping T8 model.

To stay relevant with its newer siblings on the active safety front, the XC90 now offers drivers help with steering on both the City Safety and the Blind Spot Information System. First introduced in the XC60, the Oncoming Lane Mitigation system first now available in the XC90, while the Cross Traffic Alert technology now comes with the autobrake function.

Likewise, the refreshed Swedish flagship SUV Sensus infotainment system has been updated and now compatible with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto as well as Spotify music streaming service integration.

Starting price for the XC90 remains at RM 373,888 (on-the-road, without insurance, inclusive of excise duty and sales tax) and is available for viewing at all authorised Volvo dealers nationwide.
