Mini Countryman gets electrified

Mini Malaysia has launched the new Mini Countryman Plug-In Hybrid, the first plug-in hybrid variant offered by the marque in Malaysia. It can be identified by the “e” badge on the side scuttles and yellow “S” in the model inscription on the rear as well as on the radiator grille and door sill finishers. Standard exterior equipment include ALL4 body kit and 19-inch Yours Masterpiece rims. The charging port is located near the left-hand side scuttle.

The new Mini Countryman PHEV is a four-wheel drive with eALL4 system for optimised traction. The front wheels are driven by the petrol engine while the electric motor powers the rear. The torquiest Mini in the range has a six-speed automatic transmission and produces 224bhp, 385Nm of torque, a 0-100km/h time of 6.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 198km/h – all while eking out 47.6km to the litre.

There are three electric drive modes which can be selected through the eDrive button: standard Auto eDrive mode where optimum fuel efficiency and performance between petrol engine and electric motor are managed automatically; purely electric Max eDrive mode at speeds up to 120km/h for a range of 40km; Save Battery mode where the petrol engine is the primary source of propulsion to allow the battery to be charged.

The Countryman Plug-In Hybrid can be charged at home by connecting it to a power socket via the Home Charging Cable for approximately 5 hours (230V), depending on the voltage of the household power grid, or at one of 270 public charging facilities across Malaysia for approximately 3:15 hours (230V), depending on the voltage of the power grid of the public charging station.

Mini Malaysia is introducing the ChargeNow deal. Owners of the new electrified Mini will get Mini Public Charging Cables and one year’s free subscription of unlimited charging at all 270  ChargeEV stations.

The body and roof colour combination offered for the new Mini Countryman are Chili Red, British Racing Green, Thunder Grey, Light White, and Melting Silver with Black Roof; and in Island Blue with White Roof. The price of the Mini Countryman Plug-In Hybrid is RM255,888, on-the-road without insurance with four years unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service. In addition there is a six-year, 100,000km battery warranty.

The Mini Countryman Plug-In Hybrid is covered by Mini Malaysia’s 5 Years Roadside Assistance programme. Mini Roadside Assistance can be contacted at 1800-88-8808.
