Mercedes SLC Roadster and C-Class Cabriolet now in Malaysia

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia kicked off Formula One revelry in Malaysia by launching two new models from their Dream Cars Collection, the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet and the new Mercedes-Benz SLC Roadster.

All five variants of the two models are powered by the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine and paired with Mercedes-Benz’s latest G-Tronic nine-speed automatic gearbox

The C-Class Cabriolet comes in three variants: the C200 with 184bhp and 300Nm of torque, C250 with 211bhp and 350Nm, and the C300 with 245bhp and 370Nm. From standstill to 100km/h, the C200, C250 and C300 take 8.2 seconds, 6.9 seconds and 6.4 seconds respectively.

With suspension lowered, by 15mm compared to the C-Class saloon, the C200 has standard steel springs and Agility Control adaptive suspension while the C250 and C300 have firmer sports suspension, Agility Control and Sports Direct-Steer system for more deft handling.

Dynamic Select engine responsiveness, Active Park Assist, Run-Flat tyres, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, AMG Line interior and exterior, Eco Start-Stop, and LED headlights are standard although the C250 and C300 get more sophisticated adaptive LEDs. Also in the C250 and C300 Cabriolets are Keyless-Go and leather upholstery. Extras exclusive in the C300 Cabriolet are COMAND Online, Sports Exhaust, a Burmester Sound System with very stylish speaker covers and 19” AMG light allow wheels. The C200 and C250 come with 18” AMG light alloy wheels.

Prices start at RM358,888 for the C200 Cabriolet, RM388,888 for the C250 Cabriolet and RM443,888 for the C300 Cabriolet.

The Mercedes-Benz SLC Roadster is the mid-life refresh of the metal-roofed convertible formerly known as the SLK. The new letters are part of the Mercedes-Benz’s restructuring of their model naming system. Two new variants were launched, the SLC 200 and the SLC 300. Like the C-Class Cabriolet, both are driven by 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engines paired with Mercedes’s nine-speed G-Tronic auto gearbox. Like the C200 Cabriolet, the SLC 200 develops 184bhp and 300Nm of torque while the SLC 300 245bhp and 370Nm, like the C300 Cabriolet. The SLC 200 takes 6.9 seconds to hit 100km/h while the SLC 300 is 1.1 seconds faster at 5.8 seconds.

The SLC has been revamped all round. Most visible would be the new diamond radiator grille. The 5.8-inch monitor has been changed for a 7.0-inch monitor, the instrument cluster in now colour and the AMG Line interior has new trim options offered.

The SLC 300 has a panoramic vario-roof with Magic Sky Control, a feature unique to the SLC, where the glass roof tint changes at the touch of a button to increase or decrease flow of natural light into the cabin. The roof mechanism now operates at speeds up to 40km/h, sliding into the boot which is 335-litres with the roof up.

Standard features in both SLC variants are Dynamic Select handling, intelligent LED headlights, tyre pressure monitoring system, Sports interior and sports exhaust. The SLC 300 gets COMAND online and a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system.

The SLC 200 is priced at RM 398,888 while the SLC 300 at RM 468,888. Both prices are on-the-road, inclusive of GST, without insurance.

The C-Class Cabriolet and SLC  Roadster join the other Dream Cars already available in Malaysia: The Mercedes-AMG GT S and C 63S, the S-Class Coupé, E-Class Coupé and CLS Coupé.
