All-new Nissan Serena e-Power electric MPV without charging cables
The all-new Nissan Serena e-Power has launched in Malaysia with five trim levels, X, X Plus, Highway Star, Premium Highway Star, Shiro Premium Highway Star. Key details of the equipment provided for the respective variants is listed below.
Nissan’s popular MPV is now available with as an EV without the inconvenience of charging cables to plug in. The electric MPV has Nissan’s e-Power charging system which utilises petrol to power a 1.4-litre engine. The engine functions both as a generator to charge the Serena ‘s 1.77kWh lithium-ion battery pack and also to power the high-output 163PS, 315Nm electric motor that drive the wheels.
There are three drive modes, Standard, Sport and Eco, with an additional e-Pedal Step function which gives the convenience of single pedal driving which increases battery regeneration. Fuel efficiency of the Serena e-Power is 18.5km/L (NEDC) which is a range of 1000km per tankful.
The Serena e-Power comes with improved Noise, Vibration, Harshness insulation and an acoustic windscreen. It also has a new front suspension and electrical steering system to reduce body roll, improve handling and stability.
Safety features in the Serena e-power include six airbags, ISO child seat restraints on the second row, and active safety features such as:
- Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking
- Blind Spot Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection
Also making it’s debut in Malaysia is Nissan ProPilot – a suite of driver assistance technologies developed for safer and more enjoyable drives. Nissan ProPilot features are:
- Intelligent Cruise Control
- Intelligent Lane Intervention
- Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention
Nissan ProPilot is only available in the Highway, Premium Highway Star and Shiro Premium Highway Star.
Inside, there is a new design dashboard with dual 12.3-inch colour screens in the upper three specs, touch sensitive air-conditioning comtrols with rotary dials for dual-zone temperature adjustments. There is no gear lever, instead the gears selector and drive modes are physical buttons on a console.
The seating in the Serena is flexible as it was in earlier generation Serena MPVs. There are 13 seating modes and partitioning options. The seats in the first and second rows have Zero Gravity technology to increase support, minimise fatigue and head sway. There is cabin walk-through access, two-way long-sliding captain seats, dual backdoor function and hands-free powered sliding doors. There are also seat hooks, fold-out trays on the second row and up to 15 cupholders, USB ports and a new wireless charging pad on the centre console.
