New Proton S70 R3 S1K racing car is latest from Proton motorsports arm R3 Motorsports
Proton has the R3 version of the Proton S70 saloon on display at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, 22-26 May at MAEPS, Serdang. Developed by Proton’s R3 Motorsports division, the S70 R3 is the first all-new racing car since the Proton Saga R3 in 2019. Past R3 cars include the Proton Satria, Waja, Suprima S, Iriz and the latest Saga.
Currently in development, the S70 R3 will feature the latest aerodynamic package tailored for the racer. It is the first racing car based on a model jointly developed by Proton and Geely and marks the return of the Proton name to the Sepang 1000km endurance event. Proton will campaign two units at this year’s S1K race. Proton’s track record at the S1K includes with five wins, more than any other team and victory for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019.
