Peugeot 408 available in three trim levels, Allure, Premium and GT, the ranger topper at RM196,055
Peugeot 408 is now in Malaysia. This all-new model is the first car launched by Peugeot since Stellantis took charge of the brand in Malaysia. Stellantis is the parent company of Peugeot along with several other major automotive brands.
The 408 is a front-wheel drive fastback saloon. It is a C-segment car up against the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. There are three trim levels, the entry-level Allure, mid-range Premium and flagship GT. All three have a common engine-gearbox combination: 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 218bhp and 300Nm of torque and paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Allure and Premium have chrome grilles, full LED head and tail lights and 18-inch rims. The Allure has vinyl, manual seats while the Premium has electric, full leather seats. They both have Peugeot i-Cockpit 10-inch digital cluster as well as high definition colour touchscreen infotainment monitor with six speakers and a wireless phone charger.
Meanwhile the GT has a body-coloured grille, matrix LED headlights, 3D “Claw Effect” LED tail lights, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The nappa leather seats have massage function and are AGR Certified: 10-way adjustable driver seats, six-way adjustable passenger seats, which have been tested and recommended by Aktion Gesunder Rücken as ergonomic and back-friendly. Aktion Gesunder Rücken is a German association of medical doctors and back care specialists. The organisation promotes research into the development of products towards the prevention of back pain.
In addition, the Peugeot i-Cockpit 10-inch digital cluster in the GT also has a 3D Quartz display and the high definition colour touchscreen infotainment monitor has configurable i-Toggles. There are 10 speakers for the Focal Premium Hi-Fi system. There is also a Multisensorial Pack and cabin air cleaner.
Safety-wise, across the range, there are six airbags, electronic stability programme with Hill Assist, traffic sign recognition, active hood pedestrian protection, autonomous emergency braking, high beam assist and finally, tyre pressure monitoring. In addition, there is a rear 180º camera for the Allure and Premium while it’s 360º for the GT. The Allure has rear parking sensors, while the Premium and GT have them in the front and rear.
Four colours are available as follows:
- Allure in Perla Nera Black, Okenite White and Artsense Grey
- Premium in Obsession Blue, Perla Nera Black, Okenite White and Artsense Grey
- GT in Obsession Blue, Perla Nera Black and Okenite White
