Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric saloon available in two variants, RWD and AWD
Hyundai Ioniq 6 is now in Malaysia. The holder of three global awards, 2023 World Car of the Year, 2023 World Electric Vehicle of the Year and 2023 World Car Design of the Year, the fastback saloon is Hyundai second all-electric vehicle to launch in Malaysia, after the Ioniq 5 in 2022.
Built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Ioniq 6 is one of the world’s fastest charging EVs from its 800-volt architecture. It takes 350kW DC charging which enables 10 per cent to 80 per cent recharge in 18 minutes.
Two variants are available: Max RWD and Max AWD, single- and dual-motor versions respectively. Both have a high-capacity 77.4 kW lithium-ion polymer battery, yielding WLTP ranges of 614 km (Max RWD) and 519 km (Max AWD). With an electric motor on each axle, the Max AWD produces 239 kW of power and 605 Nm of torque. The zero to 100 km/h sprint takes 5.1 seconds.
The retrofuturist style comes courtesy of its Parametric Pixel lighting – an Ioniq trademark – present in numerous places including the head and tail lamps, rear spoiler-mounted third brake lamp and even the steering wheel. The ‘mindful cocoon’ interior features two seamlessly connected 12.3-inch screens, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless phone charging, eco-friendly materials and multi-colour ambient lighting, amongst others.
Ioniq 6 has five-star Euro NCAP-rating. It comes with seven airbags (including a front-centre airbag) and Hyundai SmartSense active safety systems as standard. There is Remote Smart Parking Assist: the driver can remotely manoeuvre the car forwards and backwards. This feature is useful for getting in and out of tight parking spaces as well as making small parking adjustments.
The Ioniq 6 has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which turns the car into a mobile powerbank. Via two electrical outlets (one inside and one outside), the Ioniq 6 can charge and power a variety of devices and appliances, from laptops and TVs to camping equipment and electric bikes. It could also be used to rescue a stranded EV.

This is inclusive of an eight-year/160,000 km battery warrant. The standard vehicle warranty is two years/50,000 km. This is upgradable to five years/100,000 km, with three years/50,000 km of free service, for an additional RM10,000. Also, the first 30 owners will receive a free one-year Shell Recharge Gold membership upon vehicle delivery. The membership will allow them to enjoy attractive charging rates.
