Tesla Model Y now officially launched in Malaysia, from 200k

Tesla Model Y deliveries to start January 2024.

The launch of the Tesla Model Y marks the official entry of the Tesla brand in Malaysia. The all-electric crossover-SUV is offered in three variants: rear-wheel drive, Long Range (dual motor all-wheel drive) and Performance (dual motor all-wheel drive). Acceleration from zero to 100km/h takes from 3.7 seconds to 6.9 seconds, depending on model (more details below), with a range of up to 533 km (WLTP) per charge. All variants are five-seaters.

The Model Y is Tesla’s newest and most affordable vehicle and is the best-selling all-electric SUV in the world. It comes with Euro NCAP five-star rating. Features in the Model Y include an all-glass roof, autopilot, active safety features, a HEPA air filtration system and Bioweapon Defence mode. It offers 2100 litres of cargo space.

There are five colours: Pearl White, Solid Black, Midnight Silver, Deep Blue, and Red.

The Tesla Model Y starts from RM199,000. There is an eight-year warranty on the battery. Tesla Batteries typically diminish 10 per cent over 10 years based on an external study. The price of battery replacement varies, depending on model and trim level.

At the time of launch, Tesla Malaysia has not yet established its local corporate office, set to be located in Cyberjaya, nor any showrooms (called Experience Centres) or service centres. Orders can be placed online at tesla.com/en_my/modely or tesla.com/en_my. Service centres are planned, to be located in heavily populated metropolitan areas.

Tesla has installed eight Superchargers at Pavilion, Bukit Bintang although these are not yet in operational, pending approvals.

Owners of non-official imports (grey market/parallel imports) will be able to use the Superchargers as well as service centres. Software updates will be available, for a fee.
