The two-wheel drive Elegance has a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 146bhp and 250Nm of torque. The transmission is a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Elegance is more dynamic as it comes equipped with driving mode selection. There are four modes – Eco, Normal, Sport or Individual.  Exclusive to the Elegance are 18-inch Frankfurt alloy wheels and silver-painted side mirrors.

The R-Line 4Motion has all-wheel drive, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 216bhp and 350Nm of torque with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. There is Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) with four drive modes. There are also four additional modes as part of the 4MOTION system: On-road, Off-road, Off-road Expert, and Snow. The R-Line 4Motion has progressive steering.  The rims are 19-inch Valencia alloys. The R-Line styling is enhanced with Carbon Grey decorative trims.

Both variants have a redesigned grille, refreshed bumper, and sleeker headlamps. New to the Tiguan is the Easy Open and Easy Close feature that provides hands-free opening and delayed closing of the boot.

The new headlamps and taillights are LED, with a wider light distribution that is suitable for city driving. The system recognises road edges, and detects kerbs, grass verges, and lane markings. Exclusive to the R-Line 4Motion is hill-descent control

Inside the three-zone Climatronic air con has various modes and Air Care function. There is also a new 11.7″ Digital Cockpit with a high-resolution display colour thin-film transistor (TFT) and the new generation 9.2” Discover Pro infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice control and inbuilt navigation system.
