Mazda launches CX-30 SUV, from RM144k

The CX-30, an all-new compact crossover is larger than the Mazda CX-3 and slots in between the CX-3 and the CX-5

The Mazda CX-30 SUV has been launched in Malaysia by Bermaz, the official distributor for Mazda cars. The compact crossover, fully-imported from Japan, is between the Mazda CX-3 and the CX-5 in size and is styled like a smaller CX-5.

The CX-30 is available in petrol or diesel, both two-wheel, front-wheel drive only. The petrol engine is the latest Skyactiv-G, 2.0-litre petrol which produces 162bhp at 6000rpm and maximum torque of 213Nm at 4000rpm. In the 1.8-litre diesel Skyactiv-D, the output is 114bhp at 4000rpm and 270Nm of torque from 1600 to 2600rpm. The transmission for both petrol and diesel is the Skyactiv Drive six-speed automatic.

There are three variants of the Mazda CX-30 SUV: a base model and a High spec for the petrol, and a High spec diesel. The features in the High specs for both petrol and diesel variants are identical. The standard features are all-LED lights and Signature Illumination for both head and tail lamps, automatic on/off, automatic levelling, rain sensing windscreen wipers, keyless entry and push-button ignition, power tailgate and four front and six rear parking sensors. In the High specs as standard are walk-away locks, paddle shifts and a power sunroof with slide and tilt glass. The base petrol model has 16-inch rims while the High spec models have 18-inch rims as standard.

Mazda i-Stop Idling Technology and G-Vectoring Control Plus Technology are in all variants of the CX-30 SUV. Safety features fitted across the range are seven airbags including a knee airbags now fitted as a standard feature in Mazda cars worldwide, ABS brakes, stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, emergency brake assist, traction control, emergency stop signal, hill-start assist and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The Mazda CX-30 SUV achieved a five-star rating when tested by Euro NCAP, scoring 99 per cent safety rating for adult occupant protection – the highest score ever achieved by any car tested. This is due to the high-strength steel construction of the body

In addition, the High spec variants are fitted with advance safety technologies from Mazda: Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS), High Beam Control (HBC), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Lane-Keep Assist System (LAS), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Smart Brake Support (SBS) both front and rear and finally, Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC).

The multi-information instrument cluster across the range is displayed on a seven-inch colour TFT LCD screen. The Mazda Connect infotainment System is voice command-enabled. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are fitted and the infotainment information is displayed on a 8.8-inch full colour monitor. GPS navigation is not provided. The multifunction steering wheel has switches for audio control and cruise control, and Bluetooth-enabled hands-free call answering and termination.

In the base spec, the upholstery is fabric and the driver’s seat has manual adjustments. The High spec seats are trimmed in leather with 10-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat. Two positions can be stored in the memory. In both trim-levels, the rear seats have 60/40 split fold with 3 headrests.  The luggage capacity of the CX-30 is 430 litres.

The Mazda CX-30 SUV is imported from Japan. It is available in eight colours: Mazda’s signature, Soul Red Crystal; Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Sonic Silver, Polymetal Grey, Titanium Flash and Jet black.

All new Mazda vehicles registered from January 1, 2019 onwards will have 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty + 5-Years Free Maintenance (except Mazda BT-50) according to manufacturer’s standards inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants. Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000km, whichever comes first.
