Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched facelift CKD GLC SUV models

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the mid-life refreshed locally assembled GLC SUV models starting from RM299,888

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has unveiled the mid-life facelift locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz GLC midsize SUV  consisting of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200, GLC 300 4MATIC as well as the GLC 300 4MATIC Coupé. The new GLC SUVs receives visual updates as well as updates and new features inside echoing the current C-Class range. In addition, the new GLCs are the first to be launched with the Mercedes me connect.

Besides the new grille design, the refreshed GLCs gets newly designed LED headlamp clusters as well as restyled rear combination lamps. For the base GLC 200 model, frontwards illumination comes from LED headlamps. The base GLC variant is fitted with Optical Off-road package along with the 20-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels as standard along with a taller ride height.

The GLC 300 4Matic gets a little more with the trick Multimbeam LED headlamps which automatically culls or highlights parts of the path which prevents glaring to oncoming drivers or motorcyclist in the dark. In addition, the GLC 300 gets the panoramic sliding sunroof as standard.

On top of that, the Night Package on the AMG Line exterior package makes the window surrounds and side view mirror caps gloss black. Wheel wise, the GLC 300 comes with 20-inch 5-twin spoke AMG light alloy wheels.

Just as the outgoing generation, the interior of the new GLC looks uncanny to that in the updated C-Class saloons albeit with minor adaptations made. Besides having the same new multi-function steering wheel, fully-digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and the 10.25-inch touchscreen, the GLC gets the new MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system as opposed to the Comand system in the C-Class. Also, AppleCarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the range as well.

Launched simultaneously, the GLC lineup will get the Mercedes me connect service which enables access to a full suite of connected services easily manage their vehicles right from their mobile devices. With the Mercedes me Adapter and application, customers are able to benefit the following services among others:

  • Information about the current vehicle status: fuel level, mileage, parking location and time
  • Find parking garages with prices, opening times and occupancy
  • “Cockpit”-Mode with live vehicle data, e.g. engine load, oil temperature and average speed
  • “Car Health Monitor” for a fast support in case of warning lights from the vehicle
  • Trip list and refueling list with export and editing function
  • Find, contact and book appointments with Mercedes-Benz Service Partners
  • Reminder function for important due dates such as main inspection

The one in the GLC 200 makes 194 bhp at 6,100 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1,300 – 4,000 rpm. The one in the GLC 300 SUV and Coupé make 254 bhp at 6,100 rpm and 370 Nm of torque at 1,300 – 4,000 rpm. Same engine, different outputs. The engine is mated to the 9G-Tronic nine-speed conventional automatic transmission as standard, while the GLC 300 4Matic SUV and Coupé has power sent to all four wheels.

When it comes to the drivetrain, the GLC 200, GLC 300 4Matic SUV and Coupé variants are powered by a M264 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. Replacing the old M274, the newer M264 engine features a twin-scroll turbocharger and 48-volt system with belt-driven starter-generator.

Besides the sleeker silhouette, the new GLC 300 4Matic Coupé is pretty much the same story with the SUV bodied version; it gets the AMG Line body treatment with the Night Package, 20-inch 5-twin spoke AMG light alloy wheels, new head and tail lamp designs with the former boasting Multibeam LED lighting. Likeswise, the interior too received the same equipment as the SUV bodied GLC mentioned above as standard albeit receiving a sliding sunroof.

Suspension wise, the GLC 200 boats a higher ground clearance, while the sportier GLC 300 4Matic comes with Agility Control with selective damping as standard. The GLC 300 4Matic Coupé however comes with non-adaptive sport suspension as standard. All GLC models comes with Dynamic Select.
