BMW Malaysia has launched the BMW X4, BMW X5, and BMW X2 Pt.2

BMW Malaysia has launched the BMW X4, BMW X5, and BMW X2

Mega evening saw three SUVs launched: the BMW X4 xDrive30i M Sport, the BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport and the BMW X2 M35i

First was the Kulim-assembled BMW X4. Other X-rated stars launched at the event were the BMW X5 and BMW X2, both of which are fully-imported.

The BMW X5 has grown in size and power over successive generations and the fourth generation all-wheel drive Sports Activity Vehicle follows in that tradition. The all-new X5 is 36mm longer at 4922mm and 66mm wider at 2004mm. The roofline has also increased by 19mm with the X5 standing 1745mm tall.  xDrive40i M Sport charges to 100km/h in 5.5 seconds from standstill, powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 340bhp and maximum torque of 450Nm with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

The X5 is offered in M Sport trim with M Sport exclusive accessories like the M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, M stainless steel pedals and M logo on the door sill finishers. Other interior luxury touches include special electroplated finishing, electrically adjustable sport seats with Vernasca Leather upholstery and ambient lighting complete with a Welcome Carpet.

Comfort features in the X5 are four-zone air conditioning, Rear Seat Entertainment Professional and a Panorama glass roof that is now 30% larger than before. The cargo cover can now be electrically retracted into the luggage compartment floor, and with the Comfort Access, both parts of the two-piece tailgate can also be opened and closed electrically at the convenient touch of a button.

New in the X5 is the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Navigation Professional powered by the new BMW Operating System 7.0. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional combines the 12.3-inch Information Display with an equally large central Control Display featuring touchscreen function and an advanced user interface. The Info Display projects navigational content, the vehicle’s position and traffic information ahead. Together with a new 70% larger BMW Head-up Display, compared to its predecessor, all important information can be viewed comfortably at eye-level. The intelligent integration of navigational data into the Info Display allows the Control Display to focus on more infotainment and vehicle functions. The BMW Operating System 7.0 in the Control Display features intuitive touch control for the first time.

The driver assistance features now have more automated driving capabilities. The latest BMW Personal CoPilot includes a cruise control system with braking function, Lane Departure Warning with steering intervention, Frontal Collision Warning with braking intervention that also now responds to cyclists on the road, rear cross traffic warning and rear collision prevention. Also, there’s intelligent Park Assist that is capable of manoeuvring in and out of parallel and perpendicular parking spaces. When it’s time to get out of parking spots and tight spaces, there’s Reversing Assist which keeps a record of the last 50 metres of the drive to the parking space and will assist with exiting the space by taking over the steering.

ConnectedDrive in the X5 has been updated to include BMW Digital Key: unlock and start the vehicle via an Android smartphone with Near Field Communication. Just hold it close to the driver’s door handle to unlock the vehicle and place the phone in the centre console charging tray. Up to five additional smartphones can be paired to the car.

The all-new BMW X5 is offered in Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Artic Grey and Phytonic Blue. The Vernasca Leather upholstery is available in the classic Black with Aluminium Tetragon for Mineral White and Black Sapphire. The option of Vernaca Leather Coffee with Fineline Stripe Wood is available for both the Artic Grey and Phytonic Blue, while the Vernasca Leather Cognac with Fineline Stripe Wood is exclusively available for Mineral White only.

The trio was rounded off by the new X2 M35i with M Performance to match its M Performance styling. The all-wheel drive Sports Activity Coupé has sporty elements like a double kidney grille in Cerium Grey, special Cerium Grey capped wing mirrors, and newly redesigned side air inlets at the front to channel air to the brakes and engine and maximise cooling.

Power is from the first-ever M Performance 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine: a 2.0-litre that generates 306bhp and 450Nm of torque at full throttle, produces a 0-100km/h time of 5.0 seconds and top speed of 250 km/h. Transmission is a specifically tuned M Performance eight-speed Steptronic Sport.

The performance X2 comes with the M Sport steering and suspension with a stiffer spring and damper setting as well as vehicle lowering. Standard features are Parking Assistant and Rear View Camera.

The new X2 M35i’s interior is a showcase to M Sport: M Sport leather steering wheel with shift paddles, interior trim finishers in Aluminium Hexagon Anthracite and door entry trims at the front emblazoned with “M35i”, and Dakota Leather-upholstered M sports front seats with integrated headrests. Infotainment is via a Harman Kardon 12-Speaker sound system and Navigation Plus with an 8.8-inch touch sensitive control display.

Colour offerings for the new BMW X2 M35i are Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Galvanic Gold, Misano Blue and Sunset Orange. Inside, owners have a choice of Black Dakota leather upholstery with Black perforations or Magma Red with Grey-Highlighted perforations.

The new BMW X2 M35i and the all-new BMW X5 will be available nationwide from July and August respectively.
