Lighter, more powerful and better equipped, the latest incarnation of the Porsche Cayenne makes stopover in Malaysia
Sime Darby Auto Performance has previewed a left hand drive version of the third generation Porsche Cayenne ahead of its launch slated for the latter quarter of this year.
At launch, two variants will be offered, the Cayenne which is powered by a340bhp, 3.0-litre V6 turbo and the Cayenne S which has a 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that produces 440bhp. Both are paired with a new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox.
A new chassis and lightweight construction has cut 65kg off the new Cayenne which tips the scale at 2020kg. Introduced in the new Cayenne are different sized front and rear tyres, a nod to the 911 on which the SUV is heavily based. Also new to the Cayenne are three-chamber air suspension, electronically controlled damper system, active all-wheel drive, new electronic Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), rear-axle steering and Porsche Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB).
The new brakes are coated in tungsten carbide which produces almost no brake dust, won’t rust, and are as durable as ceramic brakes but at a fraction of the cost.
Standard equipment offered are LED headlights, Anticipatory Pedestrian Protection and ParkingAssist. Optional equipment available include LED headlights with Matrix beam (PDLS Plus), Night Vision Assist, Lane Keeping Assistant, ParkAssist Plus including Remote Parking, Manoeuvring Assistant and rim protection.
