A new variant has been added to the BMW 5 Series range, the all-new BMW 530e Sport.
The fifth BMW iPerformance model offered in Malaysia, it is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbo engine that produces 184bhp and 320Nm of torque with the output boosted up to 252bhp and 420Nm of torque by the eDrive electric motor. The sprint time to 100km/h is 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 235km/h. The eDrive electric motor can be charged either through a domestic electric socket, through the BMW iWallbox or a public charging station.
Three hybrid driving modes: Auto eDrive, Max eDrive, and Battery Control vary the percentage of output from the combustion engine and/or electric motor to optimise efficiency with an all-electric range is up to 48km with a maximum speed of up to 140km/h which BMW boasts is the best in its segment.
The BMW 530e is equipped with active dampers and four handling modes that adapt steering, suspension and engine responsiveness based on the drive mode selected: Comfort, Sport, Eco Pro and Adaptive. Adaptive works in tandem with the navigation system to optimise the car’s performance according to the current driving style and the route ahead.
Safety features provided are six airbags, ABS, EBD, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), ISOFIX mounting points and flat tyre indicator. Other features include LED headlights for both low-beam and high-beam, side lights, as well as daytime running lights, Lane Change Warning and Blind Spot Monitor. There is also Park Assist to park the 530e autonomously, either parallel or perpendicular to the kerb.
The 5 Series Hybrid is available in four exterior colours: Bluestone Metallic, Mediterranean Blue, Alpine White, and Black Sapphire and two leather Dakota interiors: Black and Cognac.
Equipment exclusive to the 530e Sport are the BMW Sport leather steering wheel and 12-speaker hifi system. Standard rims are 19-inches.
The all-new BMW 530e is priced at RM343,800 on-the-road without insurance. It is currently sold alongside the non-hybrid BMW 530i which is RM388,800 (on-the-road without insurance).
New owners of the BMW iPerformance models – BMW 330e M Sport, BMW X5 xDrive 40e, BMW 740Le, and now the All-New BMW 530e Sport will also have unlimited, complimentary access for a whole year for the ChargeNow mobility services via the ChargEV platform in collaboration with GreenTech Malaysia. The special offer also comes with a complimentary BMW i AC Fast Charging Cable. Specifically for new owners of the BMW X5 xDrive40e and BMW 740Le xDrive, the new programme by BMW Malaysia offers a complimentary BMW i Wallbox Plus, with RFID detection and can be managed and controlled remotely using the BMW iV smartphone app. The campaign ends 31st March 2018.
