Volvo S90 T8 CKD launched at IGEM 2017

Volvo Car Malaysia launched the locally-assembled Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine, the flagship saloon in their range, at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference (IGEM) at KLCC.

The Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine is produced in Shah Alam and will be exported around the region. It is the second PHEV that Volvo assembles in Malaysia, the first being the XC90 T8 Twin Engine.

The Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), combining a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine with a 10.4kWh Lithium-ion battery to produce a maximum output of 407bhp and 640Nm of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the S90 T8 has a top speed of 250km/h with a 0-100km/h acceleration of 4.8 seconds. Claimed fuel consumption is 2.0-litres/100km.

The saloon is all-wheel drive: the combustion engine powers the front wheels while an electric motor drives the rear axle.

Two trim levels of the S90 T8 are available, the Inscription and Inscription Plus. Standard equipment include Park Assist with Park Assist Pilot, 360º camera, Blindspot system with cross traffic alert, lane keeping assist, two stage integrated booster seats and comfort seats upholstered in Nappa Leather and the signature handmade Orrefors Crystal gear lever. Making its debut as a standard feature is IntelliSafe Assist with adaptive cruise control, distance alert and the semi-autonomous drive feature, Pilot Assist. The top-of-the-range Inscription Plus also comes with a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system and air suspension with electronically controlled dampeners.

The S90 T8 Twin Engine Inscription and Inscription Plus is priced at RM368,888 and RM388,888 (on-the-road without insurance, including all applicable taxes) respectively. As an introductory offer, orders placed before 31 October 2017 for both variants will enjoy a special price of RM348,888 and RM368,888 respectively.
