Volvo Cars Malaysia has launched the all-new Volvo EX30 in Malaysia. The electric SUV is available in three variants, the entry-level EX30 Plus, the mid-spec EX30 Ultra and the all-wheel drive EX30 Ultra Twin Performance at the top of the range.
The EX30 was designed to have the lowest carbon footprint of any Volvo car to date with the upholstery made of 100 per cent recycled polyester and Nordico with recycled PET content.
The Plus and Ultra have a single motor which produces 268bhp of power and 343 Nm of torque. The 0-100km/h time is 5.3 seconds with a WLTP range of 476km. They are rear-wheel drive.
The Ultra Twin Performance is all-wheel drive with two motors, one at the front and the other at the rear axle producing a combined 423bhp and 543 Nm of torque. The 0-100km/h time is 3.6 seconds with a range of 450km from a 69kWh NMC battery.
The EX30 is capable of 175kW DC fast charging and takes 28 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 per cent.
The EX30 comes with Volvo’s full Safe Space Technology suite a advanced driver assistance systems enabled by radars, ultrasonic sensors and cameras located around the car. These include
The Volvo EX30 has the latest generation of Volvo’s Park Pilot Assist feature that can handle parallel, curved, perpendicular and diagonal fishbone parking spaces. Park Pilot Assist can automatically identify available parking spaces and take over the accelerator, brakes and steering to manoeuvre the car.
The Plus comes with Pilot Assist, Harman Kardon Premium Sound, ambient interior themes and the full suite of Volvo’s ADAS features while the Ultra gets all that and also Park Pilot Assist, 360º camera, powered front seats and a panoramic roof. The Ultra and Ultra Twin Performance have the same specs although the latter has twin electric motors. All have 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
As with other Volvos, the infotainment system has Google built-in as well as wireless Apple AirPlay.
Luggage space is 318 litres with all the seats up or 718 with the second row fully folded. kk
