Volvo Car Malaysia unveils the new Volvo S90 Recharge T8

Midlife refresh Volvo S90 plug-in hybrid has exterior and interior styling updates

The new Volvo S90 Recharge T8 is now in Malaysia. The all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid has a four-cylinder engine paired with a rear electric motor to produce a combined output of 407bhp and 640Nm of torque. The transmission is an eight-speed automatic.

The capacity of the electric motor has been increased from the 10.4 kWh to 11.6 kWh. A full charge via a Type 2 connector now takes three hours with an all-electric driving range of 58km.

The S90 Recharge takes 4.9 seconds to go from zero to 100km/h with the top speed limited to 180 km/h.

The front and rear bumpers have a new design. There are new LED tail lamps with Tracer Turn Indicators.

Inside there are new interior trim options and additional USB-C outlets. There are also LED illuminated treadplates, In addition, the Bowers & Wilkins sound system has been upgraded to 19 speakers with an output of 1400W which also includes new double-dome aluminium tweeters and mid-range speaker cones in Continuum composite.

Standard safety features in the S90 Recharge T8 are Blind Spot Information Systems (BLIS), City Safety, Cross Traffic Alert, Front and Rear Warning and Mitigation Support, Lane Keeping Aid, Pilot Assist, and a 180km/h speed cap.

There are five colours available:

• Bright Silver
• Crystal White Pearl
• Onyx Black
• Platinum Grey
• Thunder Grey

Priced at RM358,888, the S90 Recharge T8 is now at RM339,315 after sales tax exemption (on-the-road, without insurance) and will be available at authorised Volvo dealers nationwide starting today. The T5 variant, now priced at RM328,888 (with sales tax), will be available from June 2021 onwards. The price, without sales tax, will be announced later.
