Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has announced that it will be sponsoring 120 units of the Tiguan Highline SUV for the Le Tour de Langkawi 2020 (LTDL). The 25th running of the world-renowned competitive road cycling race will see Volkswagen cars tailing behind the peloton across Malaysia for the third time since 2016.
“We are honoured to be back as part of LTDL this year as the race celebrates its silver jubilee, and we are confident that the Tiguan will be a good fit and support to the operations team in terms of safety, endurance, agility and speed. On behalf of Volkswagen, we wish the participants all the very best for this year’s race.”
Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM
The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s most successful SUV with five million units sold globally. It is powered by a 1.4-litre Turbocharged TSI engine which makes 148 bhp and 250 Nm. Mated to the engine is a six-speed wet-clutch Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG) transmission. The Volkswagen Tiguan Highline will act as support vehicles to riders, marshalls and race officials.
As part of the 2020 UCI Asia Tour, the Le Tour de Langkawi is a multiple-stage bicycle race which will take riders through Malaysia’s diverse terrain and elevations. The race has gained multiple accolades and is now highlighted in the global competitive cycling calendar attracting many of the world’s best road cyclists.
