Volkswagen Malaysia has launched the new Golf GTI and previewed the new Golf R-Line. The two models have updates to the engine and exterior and interior styling. Both models are assembled in Pekan, Pahang.
The new Golf GTI has new design top-of-the-range IQ.Light LED matrix headlights. The new headlights have a high-performance main beam and flank the new illuminated Volkswagen logo. The Golf GTI is the first VW model in Malaysia to feature this. At the rear are new IQ.LED matrix taillights. The lights have a three-dimensional effect and feature dynamic turn signals and animated rear graphics. The Golf GTI has 18-inch Richmond allow wheels.
Under the bonnet, the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine has an additional 20PS of power and is now 265PS (261bhp), paired with a seven-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch transmission.

Inside, there are front sports seats, upholstered in Vienna Leather. There is a redesigned dashboard with a separate tablet-style 12.9-inch infotainment display and Digital Cockpit Pro 10-inch high resolution TFT display instrument cluster. The Digital Cockpit Pro has fully customisable menus with three styles of display views. The multifunction leather sports steering wheel has also been updated. There are now physical buttons to replace the touch-sensitive buttons in the pre-facelift GTI.

The nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system has a subwoofer powered by a 12-channel digital amplifier producing 480 watts of total output.
The Golf R-Line makes a return to Volkswagen Malaysia’s line-up with the new Golf R-Line. The new 1.5-litre e-TSI mild hybrid turbocharged engine has a shift-by-wire system for its seven-speed DSG transmission. Engine output is 150PS with 250Nm of torque. Zero to 100km/h takes 8.6 seconds. Claimed fuel consumption is 5.2L/100km.
The entry-level Golf variant in Malaysia, this was the 1.4TSI, powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol model with eight-speed automatic transmission. This was discontinued in Malaysia in 2023.

The first 50 units of the new Golf GTI is RM249,990 inclusive of Volkswagen Assurance Package with registration by 31 December 2025. Thereafter the price is RM255,990 including the Volkswagen Assurance Package.
The Golf GTI comes with five years free maintenance, five years mileage warranty and five years complimentary roadside assistance under the Volkswagen Assurance Package.
