UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Malaysia announced a special service campaign (SSC) to replace the fuel pump on certain units of Toyota and Lexus models.
Based on information received from Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), there are around 12,000 units of Toyota (Alphard, Camry, Corolla, Innova and Fortuner) and 1,500 units of Lexus models (GS300, GS350, IS300, LC500/500H, LS460, LS500/500H, LS600H, NX200T/300H, RC350/300H, RX350/450H and RX350/450) manufactured from 2013 to 2019 and distributed by UMWT involved in this campaign. Model not listed here are not affected by this campaign.
The subject vehicles are equipped with a fuel pump which may stop operating. If this were to occur, warning lights and messages may be displayed on the instrument panel, and engine power hesitation may happen. This may result in the vehicle stalling and unable to start. Moreover, this could increase the risk of an accident when driving at high speeds.
UMWT will officially notify all its affected vehicle owners to update the fuel pump unit at no charge. However, the replacement work should depend on the car models.
For further information, owners of affected cars may contact any authorised Toyota Service Centre or call the Toyota Freephone at 1800-8-TOYOTA (869682).
