The new Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase has arrived in Malaysia

The new Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase has made its debut in Malaysia.

The eighth generation of the super-luxury limousine is the flagship in the Rolls-Royce lineup and comes complete with enhancements in technology, drivetrain and driver assistance systems. This includes an aluminium spaceframe which is exclusive to Rolls-Royce and makes the new Phantom 30% lighter but more rigid than its predecessor.

A next generation four-corner air suspension system, state-of-the-art chassis control systems, 130kg of sound insulation, double-laminated glass and dual-skin alloys across the bulkhead ensure the Phantom is the pinnacle of comfort and quietness – so low that Rolls-Royce’s acoustic test engineers had to check their instruments were calibrated correctly after reviewing the results of road and vibration tests.

An all-new, 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine delivers 563hp and 900Nm of torque from just 1,700rpm, spiriting from 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds with the help of its eight-speed, satellite-aided transmission.

The Phantom is equipped with the ‘Flagbearer’ – a stereo camera system integrated in the windscreen that sees the road ahead and adjusts the suspension in anticipation. Its headlights are equipped with the latest laser light technology, providing a 600-metre range of light at night.

The Phantom has touch-sensitive door handles to close the doors electronically from the outside. Inside, the fascia is a single piece of glass across the dashboard and is called “The Gallery”. The Gallery can be used as a bespoke display case for personal memorabilia such as a vintage baseball card collection. Patrons would even be able to work with their favourite artist to create one-of-a-kind installations.

Each New Phantom is expected to be bespoke with a choice of 44,000 exterior colours and the option to request personalised designs from the company’s team of bespoke designers. Pricing in Malaysia for Phantom Standard Wheelbase starts from RM 2.2 million (before applicable taxes), with Phantom Extended Wheelbase from RM 2.5 million (again, before applicable taxes), depending on customer specification. All Rolls-Royce Phantoms come with a four-year service package and regional warranty, 24 hour roadside support and a ‘flying doctor’ aftersales team.

The all-new Phantom in the image was presented in Belladonna Purple, with a two-tone contrast interior finished in Arctic White and Purple Silk.
