Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV the lowest priced PHEV in Malaysia<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Chery Malaysia has launched two new plug-in hybrid models, the five-seater Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV and the seven-seater Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV, priced at RM129,800 and RM159,800 respectively. These are the third and fourth Chery Tiggo models in Malaysia following the launch of the petrol-engined Chery Tiggo 8 Pro<\/a> in 2023 and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both cars look similar to the petrol variants although both have redesigned front bumpers and a new front grille. The Tiggo 8 PHEV has intelligent LED headlights and active cornering lights. The rear taillamps are a one-piece design that stretches across the width of the body. Both models also have new, sportier design rims. There are also functional roof rails and double-glazed glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two PHEV models are powered by the same engine, gearbox and battery system, a dedicated 1.5-litre hybrid engine (fifth generation ACTECO) that combined with the dedicated hybrid transmission enables a combined range of up to 1200km. The combined engine output is 275PS and 365Nm of torque. The 18.3kWh battery is Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) which gives 90km of all-EV driving. There is also a 60-litre petrol tank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assuming a fully charged battery, the PHEV starts out in pure electric mode, switching to both EV and petrol engine if there is not enough EV power, because the battery is low or there is a demand for more power during low to medium speed acceleration . The petrol engine is engaged without electric power under certain conditions such as high speed cruising and going down hill or if there isn’t sufficient charge remaining. The petrol engine also recharges the battery when it is engaged. There is also energy recovery from regenerative braking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The battery is protected by a Guardian Battery Safety System that has high voltage cut-off, is 1P68 dust-proof and water proof and can withstand the car’s immersion in up to 500mm of water. The battery also operates reliably in a wide temperature range between -35\u00baC to 60\u00baC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charging time for DC fast charging from 30% to 80% at 40kW is 19 minutes. For AC charging at 6.6kW also from 30% to 80% is three hours. With a standard household 3-pin socket, a full overnight charge takes 8.5 hours. There is also Vehicle-to Load (V2L) function at 3.3kW for powering devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the Tiggo 7 PHEV has Multi Collision Braking (MCB) and Driver Monitoring System (DMS) while the Tiggo 8 PHEV has Driver Fatigue Monitoring System (DFS)  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, both Tiggo models have 64 colour ambient lights and an HD DVR system. Both cars come with ventilated sports leather seats which are six-way adjustable for the driver and four-ways adjustable for the passenger seat, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The smaller, C-segment Tiggo 7 PHEV has ventilated sports leather seats, 24.6-inch integrated dual screen for the instrument cluster and infotainment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the D-segment Tiggo 8 PHEV has synthetic leather seats, 15.6-inch infotainment monitor, dual-zone climate control and a Sony 10-speaker audio system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
