New Mazda CX-5 facelift to exterior and cabin, Turbo still flagship variant

The new Mazda CX-5 facelift is now in Malaysia. There are updates to the exterior and interior styling, upgraded technologies and features as well as improved driving performance and comfort.

There is a new front grille with redesigned lower bumper with smaller centre air-intakes. The light pattern in the headlights and taillight have been redesigned. The 17- and 19-inch rims have new styles.

There are five variants: Mid and High spec 2.0-litre variants and two 2.5-litre petrol variants and one 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel variant. The flagship petrol-engined 2.5 Turbo has all-wheel drive. The other variants are front-wheel drive.

The new CX-5 facelift is quieter, smoother and more comfortable for the driver and passengers. Improved suspension and the latest G-Vectoring Control Plus Technology has been installed to enhance drive comfort and provide better handling. Vehicle NVH has also been upgraded.

There are redesigned seats with a new flexible surface to reduce body sway. The seat holds the occupants’ spine in an S-shaped curve, allowing the spine to flex in response to vibration transmitted from the pelvis to stabilise the occupants’ heads.

Improvements and new features standard across all its variants, include

  • Autofold outer rearview mirrors
  • Qi Wireless Charger
  • Wireless Apple Carplay,
  • LED interior lighting as standard equipment.

The 2.0L Mid variant now has Advanced Keyless Entry. Meanwhile, the CX-5 2.0L High variants and above now come with Paddle Shifters and new design LED Signature headlamps. Finally, the CX-5 2.5L variant and above now have ventilated seats for the driver and front passenger.

Additionally, the new Mazda CX-5 2.5T AWD variant features Mi-Drive, which offers three driving modes, Normal, Sport and Off-Road, to best suit the driving conditions, road conditions and vehicle conditions. The Mi-Drive goal is to improve the driving experience for the driver to suit the terrain and adjusting to suit the situation better. The Off-Road mode optimises the following system control characteristics:

  • All Wheel Drive for high traction performance.
  • Smooth traction control
  • Automatic Transmission Control for smooth and continuous torque
  • The engine idling speed that maximises climbing capability

The Mi-Drive enables the driver to select the most suitable drive mode to optimise driving capability.

In 2023, the new Mazda CX-5 received the IIHS 2023 Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

  • Smart Brake Support (SBS)
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC, with Stop & Go)
  • Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS).

Prices are on-the-road and are inclusive of five-year Manufacturer Warranty + five-years Free Maintenance, according to the Manufacturer’s standards, including labour, parts and lubricants. Both Manufacturer’s warranty and Free Maintenance are for five years and 100,000km, whichever comes first.
