New Honda City launched in Malaysia, from RM85k

New City now has two RS variants, e:HEV RS and new petrol RS

The new Honda City is now in Malaysia. The facelifted fifth-generation City comes with styling updates and a new petrol RS. There are now five variants, the base S-spec at RM84,900, the E-spec at RM89,900, the V-spec at RM94,900 and two RS variants, petrol RS at RM99,900 and the hybrid e:HEV RS at RM111,900. All prices are on-the-road, without insurance.

The RS has a new honeycomb front grille, new front lower grille, new rear diffuser, new side skirting, and a newly designed “RS” emblem. Other exterior features include new front bumper, new rear bumper and new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The petrol RS and e:HEV RS variants are now longer with refreshed bumper design measuring 4,589mm in length while the S, E and V variants are 4,580 mm in length.

The top-of-the-range RS retains the 1498cc e:HEV powertrain of a naturally-aspirated Atkinson cycle petrol engine and motor which produces 107bhp and 253Nm torque. Meanwhile, the 1498cc DOHC i-VTEC engine petrol City delivers a maximum output of 119bhp and 145Nm of torque.

Paddle Shifts are now standard in all Petrol variants. The e:HEV RS variant is fitted with Deceleration Selector Paddles that enable the driver to engage on the paddles for power regeneration and to decelerate the vehicle without stepping on the brake pedal.

Both RS variants now have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a seven-inch TFT meter cluster. Except for the S variant, upgraded features in the variants include

• eight speakers
• new interface for display audio
• enhanced multi-angle rear view camera
• new rear Type C USB Port

The rear seats still have a 60:40 split configuration with 519 litres of cargo space for the petrol variants.

The new City has Honda SENSING advanced safety features which is standard in all variants. These are:

1. Low Speed Follow (LSF) – applicable for e:HEV RS only
2. Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN)
3. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
4. Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
5. Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
6. Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
7. Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
8. Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
9. Auto High Beam (AHB)

Other safety features of the new City include six airbags and Walk Away Auto Lock which standard across all variants. The New City Petrol RS and e:HEV RS receive smartphone connectivity with the Honda Connect as a standard advanced feature.

Customers now have the option to add Honda Connect for the non-RS variants, available at a special price of RM1,500.00* until January 2024.
