MG5 now launched, special introductory price, RM87k

MG5 special price includes RM7000 launch rebate in conjunction with MG’s 100th anniversary

The MG5 is now in Malaysia, following a preview of the B-segment saloon in August this year, alongside the MG HS. The saloon from MG enters a highly competitive segment which includes the Proton S70, Toyota Vios and Honda City, all of which have 1.5-litre engines of various outputs.

In the MG5, the four-cylinder 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine produces 112bhp and 150Nm of torque and is paired with an eight-speed CVT gearbox. The alloy rims are 17-inches.

Entry is keyless and there is push start ignition. Inside, there is black upholstery with red accents. The driver’s seat is six-way electrically adjustable with manual lumbar support. The multi-function steering wheel is leather-wrapped. the digital instrument cluster has a seven-inch display. Air-conditioning is single zone with air-vents at the rear. There is a PM 2.5 air filter system.

For infotainment, the monitor is 10.25-inch with six speakers, three USB points and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The MG5 is RM93,900 on-the-road without insurance but MG is giving a special introductory price of RM86,900, on-the-road without insurance. The RM7000 rebate is in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the MG brand.

There is a five-year unlimited mileage warranty on the vehicle and seven-year unlimited mileage warranty for the powertrain (engine and gearbox).
