Limited Edition Shell Motorsports Collection launched

Shell Motorsports Collection cars are Bluetooth-controlled via smartphone

Shell Malaysia has launched the Shell Motorsports Collection. The limited edition cars can only be obtained with the purchase of Shell fuels and lubricants from 8 October to 8 December 2022.

The electric cars with one smart Bluetooth battery are available at RM30 with a minimum fuel purchase of RM50. The Motorsports Collectors box is RM80 and only available with the purchase of RM80 of Shell V-Power Racing, in a single receipt. The cars are released one model a week, exclusively at Shell Stations nationwide.

The exclusive Ferrari SF90 and one Smart battery are free with the purchase of selected Shell Helix Lubricant 4L at Shell stations.

The Shell Motorsports Collection consists of 1:41 scale models of seven high-performance cars from motorsports teams around the world partnered with Shell. The cars are:

• Ferrari SF90 F1
  Shell’s Innovation Partnership with Scuderia Ferrari is one of the longest and most successful in Motorsport. Shell with the Ferrari Formula One team developed Shell V-Power fuel and Shell Helix Ultra oil. The Ferrari SF90 has won three races with the first win in the 2019 Belgian Grande Prix and the last win in the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix
• BMW M4 Motorsport
  The BMW M4 is a lightweight and aerodynamic pure performance car. The BMW brand has stood out in Motorsports for decades.
• Nissan Formula E Gen 2
  This model is based on the first Formula E car to complete a full 45-minute race without mid-race car swaps. The real-life Nissan Formula E Gen 2 has 250kW of power.
• Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC
  The World Rally Championship (WRC) is one of the toughest challenges with drivers and their cars battling against extreme temperatures that can vary from near -30ºc to up to 50ºC, as well as high altitudes and challenging surfaces.
  Despite these extremes, as a result of the technical partnership with Shell, the Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC delivers an extra 1.5 horsepower which is, on average, a six second advantage at every rally. The real-life Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC is wider and and lighter with adjustable suspension and height. Its adaptability enables it to take on challenging terrains like snow and off-road. The car recently won the WRC in Greece and is the favourite to win the next championship in Spain.
• Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang GT
  The Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang GT is an Australian champion. This model has recorded 37 race victories since its debut on the streets of Adelaide.
• Team Penske Indycar
  The Team Penske Indycar is the result of renewable energy efforts by Shell, Penske Corporation and Indycar. They have collaborated on a number of sustainability initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint within Indycar and make motorsports more ecologically sustainable in North America. The Team Penske Indycar boasts 100% renewable race fuel with 60% greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
• Team Penske Ford Mustang GT
  Team Penske is one of the most successful teams in Nascar. Joey Logano, the face of Nascar Cup Series in the United States, drove the Team Penske Ford Mustang GT to victory 24 times.

The cars have a special proprietary Smart battery which has a Bluetooth chip integrated within a rechargeable lithium cell. The battery was developed in partnership with BrandBase and 12 right holders such as Ferrari, BMW, Hyundai, Ford and Nissan.

The Bluetooth battery enables players to remotely control the car with their smart phones via the Shell Racing App which includes a built-in game. The app is available on App Store and Google Play.

In order to activate the car, players need to insert the Bluetooth battery into the car, scan and pair it with their device and the car is ready to race.

To commemorate the launch of the latest remote-controlled collection Shell is organising an event at KL Sentral from 17 to 23 October and at Mid Valley Megamall from 26 to 30 October. The public can try all seven racing car models on racetracks. Also on display will be a replica of the Hyundai i20 WRC.
