Porsche held a special showcase for the limited 911 R in Singapore recently. Just 991 units of the highly exclusive, high performance model will be produced with four allocated to Singapore. They have all been sold.
The 911 R is a hardcore, track-focused version of Porsche’s venerable sports car, building even further from the formula perfected by the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS. Power comes from a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six with 493bhp and 460Nm of torque, driven through a six-speed manual transmission. With the car weighing in at just 1,370kg, the 911 R is able to rocket from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds, and go on to reach a top speed of 323km/h.
The weight loss comes as a result of the use of carbon fibre on the 911 R’s bonnet and wings, while the roof is crafted from magnesium. The rear windscreen and side windows are also made from lightweight plastic, while the interior’s insulation has also been reduced and there are no rear seats. Air conditioning and the car’s audio system are optional items to help reduce the car’s weight further, while Porsche’s Ceramic Composite Brakes are standard for enhanced performance.
