Kia Picanto launched in Malaysia

The third generation of the Kia Picanto has made its debut in Malaysia.

The supermini features a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine that produces 83bhp and 122Nm of torque and is paired with a four-speed automatic gearbox.

The Picanto has gained in size all-round but has lost 23kg in weight, due to a 44% increase in Advanced High-Strength Steel which improves the structural strength of the body for better handling as well as passenger protection in the cabin. The cabin has been redesigned with improvements to seating position and additional knee clearance under the steering column. Outside, the front overhang has been reduced by 25mm to give the car a sportier stance.

Several first-in-its-class features are the highlights of the Kia Picanto: projector halogen headlights, position lamps, LED daytime running lights and six airbags. Also, Apple Carplay and Android Auto with voice recognition integrated in a seven-inch touchscreen monitor which houses a navigation system with 3D maps. Other highlights are LED turn signals, keyless entry and push-button ignition. Safety features include reverse sensors with three sensors, rear view camera, ABS, hill-start assist control, electric stability control, brake assist, traction control and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

The Picanto is available in five colours: Pop Orange, Lime Light, Honey Bear, Clear White and Titanium Silver priced at RM49,888 on-the-road without insurance with a five year unlimited mileage warranty.

In addition, there will be two NOVUS Accessories packages available, exclusive for the newest Kia Picanto; the All-New Picanto NOVUS X and the All-New Picanto NOVUS S, priced at RM5,618 (incl. GST) and RM3,498 (incl. GST) respectively. Accessories included in the package are the NOVUS emblem, solar tints, stylish and sporty NOVUS Bodykits, as well as leather seats and a DVR-digital video recorder among others.
