Isuzu enhances D-Max and unveils special edition mu-X

Isuzu Malaysia has enhanced the looks of their D-Max trucks with a more aggressively styled front-end in the first midlife refresh of the trucks since their launch in 2013. At the same event,  a special edition of the mu-X Type S SUV was unveiled.

While the engine and gearbox options remain unchanged – 2.5-litre or 3.0-litre paired with either a five speed automatic or manual transmission – the D-Max is now available in three trim levels aimed at different markets. Standard and Premium more targeted at the commercial segment while the new top-of-the-range variant, the Z-Prestige is more lifestyle-oriented.

Standard driving safety aids across all truck variants include Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Hill-Start Assist (HSA).

The flagship Z-Prestige comes in three colours, Silky White Pearl, Velvet Mica Red and Stallion Black. New features include Passive Entry and Start System (PESS), 18” alloy rim, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, 8-inch touch-screen DVD player with 8-speaker surround sound system, new design electroluminescent (e-LUMAX) meter panel with Multi-Information Display (MID), multimedia ports and smartphone compartment, leather seats and armrest.

The mu-X Type S gets enhanced features like Passive Entry and Start System (PESS), new 8-inch display audio system, new e-Lumax meter panel, new ivory leather upholstery which adds a premium air to the interior, shark fin antenna, new piano black interior dashboard, door and air-condition vent trims, new body-coloured front and rear skirting, rear bumper garnish and Type S badge. Hill-Start Assist (HSA) is an additional safety feature.

On-the-road prices (inclusive of GST, road tax and insurance) range from RM83,000 for the D-Max 2.5L Standard with manual transmission to RM128,000 for the top-of-the-range D-Max 3.0L Z-Prestige with automatic transmission.
