The all-new fourth-generation Kia Sorento is now in Malaysia, from RM209,888. There are three variants: a seven-seater petrol variant with two-wheel drive, a six-seater all-wheel drive petrol or a six-seater all-wheel drive diesel. They all come with advanced safety features.
The petrol version has a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine that produces 177bhp and 232NM of torque and six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine is 2.2-litres, turbocharged, producing 199bhp and 440Nm of torque paired with eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The fourth-generation Kia Sorento has the hallmark ‘tiger nose’ LED grille, a wider shape that wraps around the headlamps on each side. The headlamps feature a new ‘tiger eyeline’ LED daytime running light, a wide, rectangular lower air intake, supported by a wing-shaped air curtains to channel air around the car and sharp bumper front spoiler with a skid plate.
The Sorento has shorter front and rear overhangs and a 35mm longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor. Its new proportion also extends the length of the bonnet, drawing the A-pillar by 30mm further back from the front axle for a more ‘cab-rearward’ design. The overall length is now 4810mm, the width 1900mm . The height has increased by 10mm to 1697mm.
Inside, there is a 12.3-inch digital driver instrument cluster paired with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard. The infotainment systems are compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto and the Bluetooth smartphone pairing allows up to two phones concurrently. There is also wireless smartphone charging and a Bose surround-sound system. A total of four USB charging sockets are available for both the second-row passengers and third-row passengers. There is also soft ambient lighting from beneath the dashboard and door trim.
The infotainment system functions can be controlled with the new haptic buttons on either side of the screen.
The new SUV has five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, the highest safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests in 2020. The fourth-generation Kia Sorento achieved 82% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection and 63% for pedestrian protection. In the ‘Safety Assist’ category, 87%. The car’s safety rating was reinforced by the Advanced High Strength Steel bodyshells with torsional rigidity of 12.5%. All the variants are equipped with Kia’s Vehicle Stability Management and Electronic Stability Control system as standard.

The all-new Sorento is assembled in Kulim, Kedah. Five colours are available: Astra Blue, Meteor Grey, Snowflake White Pearl, Sonic Silver and Jet Black.
Prices start at RM 209,888.00 for the seven-seater, petrol-engined, two-wheel drive. The six-seater all-wheel-drive petrol and diesel are RM233,888 and RM253,888 respectively. All fourth-generation Kia Sorento SUVs come with a five-year manufacturer warranty or 100,000km, whichever comes first. It also comes with five years Free Scheduled Maintenance or 100,000km, whichever comes first.
