Ford Ranger XL Single Cab now available, RM99k

Ford Ranger XL Single Cab, 2.0-litre entry-level truck with six-speed manual gearbox at RM98,888

The Ford Ranger XL Single Cab has been added to the Malaysia line-up. The 2.0litre single turbo diesel engine produces 168bhp and 405Nm of torque. The gearbox is six-speed manual. The new variant is the base model of the next-generation Ford Ranger launched earlier this year.

As with the rest of the next-generation Ford Rangers, the track and wheelbase are 50mm wider and longer than in the previous generation. Ground clearance is also higher at 230 mm. The Ranger XL Single Cab also offers the largest single cargo bed in the pick-up market. At 2332mm long, 1420mm wide and 540mm high, it can fit larger items like a sheet of building plywood or a full-size pallet flat on the cargo bed.

Other conveniences are

• six cargo tie-down hooks on strong steel tube rails that provide convenient points for securing loads
• the tailgate doubles up as a mobile workbench with an integrated ruler and clamp pockets to measure, grip and cut building materials

The next-generation Ford Ranger XL Single Cab comes in four colours:

• Absolute Black
• Aluminium Metallic
• Arctic White
• Meteor Grey

The price, RM98,888 includes five-year manufacturer’s warranty or 160,000km, whichever comes first. In addition, there is an extended warranty of up to seven years. There is also an extended service package: upfront payments for scheduled services for up to five years. The advantage is that service costs are locked-in the current price and the payments are part of their loan.
