E-TAG, highway toll TAG, launched

E-TAG, Infra-Red Toll Collection device is SmartTAG lane compatible

Following the launch of MaxTAG in September online at www.lazada.com.my and www.11street.my, Efkon Asia has launched E-TAG, which will be available via offline channels like accessories shops.

E-TAG and MaxTAG are made by the same manufacturer of the SmartTAG and can be used at SmartTAG lanes on all highways. There are over 300 SmartTAG lanes in operation. The two new devices operate on the same infra-red toll collection platform as the SmartTAG and are alternative brands to the SmartTAG-branded device previously sold by Touch ‘n Go.

Following the launch of the RFID toll collection system earlier this year, Touch ‘n Go announced in September that they would no longer be selling SmartTAGs.

Ekfon Asia director Helmuth Blasch said that both the E-TAG and Max-TAG have new microprocessors and enhanced displays and should last 15 years or more if not subjected to external environmental conditions or vandalism.

The E-TAG retails for RM143 and has a one year warranty. More information can be found at www.efkon.com or www.basset.com.my.
