The GoVax free shuttle for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities now goes to two additional destinations: University Malaysia Medical Centre (UMMC) and Ideal Convention Centre Shah Alam (IDCC). Other vaccination centres covered by GoVax are Hospital Shah Alam, Klinik Rakan Medik Petaling Jaya and the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre.

A CSR programme by GoCar Malaysia in collaboration with Kampung Tunku YB Lim Yi Wei, GoVax provides free transportation to senior citizens (60 years and above) and persons with disabilities (PWD) going for their COVID-19 vaccination appointments. The shuttle is available to residents in the Petaling district who face difficulties with public transport

The programme has garnered close to 100 registrations since 25 May with the  first batch of seniors and PWDs to benefit from the shuttle service on 31 May 2021.

To book a free GoVax shuttle, contact the 24/7 hotline 1 300-30-2633 or put in a booking request via the GoCar mobile app at least three days before the confirmed vaccination appointment. Slots are limited on a first come, first served basis.

Do note, however, that passengers with mobility challenges will need to be accompanied by an experienced caregiver.

The GoVax free shuttle service will be available from now until 31 August 2021.

BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia is working with a local social enterprise, Animal Projects and Environmental Education (APE Malaysia) to support reforestation efforts in Borneo.

The loan financing arm of BMW Group Malaysia will donate RM100 from all funded contracts from 1 May to 31 July 2021 for the following models*:

• BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport
• MINI Cooper SE Countryman ALL4

The RM100 will contribute to five new trees planted at the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary. Customers whose contracts enabled the initiative will receive a photo, as well as an e-certificate with the GPS coordinates of their trees from APE Malaysia. The ROAR programme also serves to restore habitat for endangered animals which includes the orangutan and Borneo Pygmy Elephant, as well as to counteract carbon footprint.

BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia has also raised over RM20,500, via BMW Engage, for the upcoming phase of the BMW Safety 360° subsidy programme. The third phase of the programme will see over 300 more child car seat subsidies made available for parents in the local B40 community. The subsidy programme has delivered over 500 child car seats to date, since its inception in late-2019.

Michelin is targeting zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. The tyre manufacturer has signed a letter of commitment with Neoline, a French shipowner on the Canada-France line to transport its tyres on sailing cargo ships from Halifax, Canada to Saint-Nazaire – Montoir de Bretagne in France. The shipping company also serve the archipelago of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, as well as Baltimore, USA.

Neoline transports good using 136-meter-long cargo ships with 4200-metre square sails. The main propulsion is wind energy, resulting in low carbon dioxide emissions from their shipping services. This will contribute to Michelin’s objective of reducing carbon dioxide emissions from logistics by 15 per cent in absolute terms between 2018 and 2030. Neoline’s solution is open to all shippers, not just Michelin, and will cut down carbon dioxide emissions related to transatlantic maritime freight transport by 90 per cent.

Neoline plans to inaugurate its transatlantic line with its first operating vessel in 2023. With the arrival of a second vessel, scheduled a year later, Neoline will take on at least 50 per cent of the group’s containers transported on this line.

Neoline was founded in 2015 by a group of maritime professionals committed to ecologically responsible maritime transport. Neoline’s ambition is to become the first shipowner oriented towards energy sobriety, relying on main propulsion under sail. The Sogestran Group, and its subsidiary Cie Maritime Nantaise, joined Neoline in 2020.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia and PichaEats delivered 280 meals to the less fortunate and Covid-19 frontliners over the weekend.

The Driving Kindness Convoy of Volkswagen and Picha employees headed out in several Volkswagen vehicles to deliver meals to Hiichiikok Foundation, Trinity Community Children’s Home, Lighthouse Children’s Welfare Home, Sunteck Handicap Welfare Home and Charis Sheep Pen Shelter.  They also delivered meals to the doctors and nurses at the Covid-19 testing station at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

In addition, five families and individuals were presented with a PichaEats Christmas Family set. They were nominated and selected through a Facebook contest which was held from the 25th to 30th November.

PichaEats is a Malaysian social enterprise. It is committed to empowering the refugee community in Malaysia through its food business. PichaEats has served over 250,000 meals cooked by people from refugee communities in Malaysia. Malaysia is currently not part of the United Nations Refugees Convention. Therefore, refugees in Malaysia are not recognised as asylum seekers and cannot be formally employed. Through PichaEats, the refugee chefs prepare the food in their own homes in accordance to strict quality standards. With every meal ordered, 50 percent of sales goes to the chefs, while the other 50 percent goes to PichaEats to cover operation costs, logistics and packaging.

Shell Malaysia will be broadening the selection of snack available at Shell Select stores following the ‘Realisasi Impianmu Bersama Shell’ initiative which ran from 18 August to 20 November 2020.

The initiative was an opportunity for six SMEs to win a Shell Private Label Contract to supply snack foods to more than 600 Shell Select stores nationwide. The products from more than 300 local SMEs were evaluated for quality, innovation, and distribution capabilities.

A total of 10 used laptops and 10 used CPUs, paired with 10 new monitors, together with RM5,000 worth of household items were donated by Tokio Marine to Good Shepherd Service, GT Community Centre, Suriana Welfare Society Malaysia, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Malaysia, and Yayasan Sunbeams Homes.

Rolls-Royce has revealed the shortlist of its Young Designer Competition. Over 5000 entries received from more than 80 countries around the world. The contestants were children under 16 years of age.

The competition was launched in early April during the Covid-19 restrictions. The aim of the contest was for contestants to design their dream Rolls-Royce of the future, incorporating bespoke features and capabilities they could conjure from their imagination. The purpose of the contest was to stimulate design talent as well as provide a distraction for children living under Covid-19 self-isolation and social-distancing restrictions.

The competition was so popular that the original mid-May deadline for submissions was extended by two weeks. After entries finally closed on 2 June 2020, the Rolls-Royce Design team selected shortlisted entries from the 5,000 submissions. The overall winner will be announced in mid-July.

Ferrari SpA has been awarded the Equal Salary Certificate. The Italian car maker received the accreditation for paying the same salary to men and women based on their qualifications and positions in the company.

The Equal Salary Foundation, a Swiss-based foundation, granted the Certification following an eight month long study by international audit firm, PwC. The methodology was recognised by the European Commission.

Ferrari is the first Italian company to receive this specific certification. The certification process included a detailed statistical analysis of compensation levels. Ferrari is one of Europe’s companies successfully bridging the gender pay gap. In addition, Ferrari’s employees completed anonymous surveys on the company’s management and human resources development policies. They also participated in one to one interviews and focus groups to discuss their perception of the company’s culture and commitment to inclusion and diversity.

Equal Salary Certification is another milestone on a journey that has seen women play an increasingly prominent role within Ferrari. From 2016 to 2019, the female employees increased from 11,5% to 14% of the 4,285-strong workforce (31 December 2019 figures). Women have gradually taken on more and more responsibility and positions of increasing importance within the company over this time.

The Audi Sommerkonzerte will be held in Ingolstadt from 2 to 5 July 2020. Four concerts will be streamed live to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the festival. The Covid-19 crisis has meant a smaller scale celebration in the festival’s anniversary year. The originally planned festival programme, “Lights of Europe” has been postponed until 2021.

The digital Audi Sommerkonzerte will open on Thursday, 2 July with a musical summit in the Audi museum mobile which houses historic vehicles and concept studies. Lisa Batiashvili will perform the much-loved Trout Quintet by Franz Schubert with the star cellist Maximilian Hornung, viola player Lawrence Power and the double-bassist Nabil Shehata. Virtuoso pianist Alice Sara Ott, one of the most sought-after pianists of her generation, completes the ensemble. There will also be a reading by German actress Katja Riemann.

On Friday, 3 July the Budapest Festival Orchestra, one of the world’s ten best orchestras, conducted by Iván Fischer, will play Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll and Symphony Number 104 in D major by Joseph Haydn. This will be in Hall B on Audi’s GVZ site. The  2,000 square metre space provides enough room for the orchestra, which will also accompany the globally acclaimed soprano Anna Prohaska in Benjamin Britten’s “Les Illuminations”.

The programme continues with a performance in the Audi museum mobile on Saturday, 4 July: under the motto “Beethoven Around the World”, the French string quartet Quatuor Ébène, an internationally renowned top ensemble, will both dedicate themselves to the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven and also celebrate the 20th anniversary of their own founding.

For the conclusion of the digital concert series, Lisa Batiashvili and Maximilian Hornung will perform together again on Sunday, 5 July in Hall B of the GVZ, accompanied by the Camerata Salzburg directed by the world-famous oboist and conductor François Leleux.
