BYD Seal EV new equipment upgrades, now from RM172k

BYD Seal Premium and Seal Performance reduced by RM8000 from 2024 launch price

The BYD Seal Premium and Seal Performance have been upgraded with new equipment. There is also an RM8000 reduction in the list price of both variants with the Seal Premium now starting from RM171,800 and the Seal Performance now from RM191,800. The entry-level Seal Dynamic has been discontinued.

New features in the Seal are:

• electric sunshade for panoramic roof
• new NFC digital key and Bluetooth key
• sunglass holder
• new design 19-inch alloy wheels

In addition, the Premium gets Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) shock absorbers for improved comfort and control. Meanwhile the Performance gets DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System for better handling and new red brake calipers. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections are now wireless.

The powertrain and performance remains unchanged. The rear-wheel drive Premium has a permanent magnet synchronous motor at the rear. The maximum power is 230kW while the maximum torque is 360Nm. 0-100km/h takes 5.9 seconds with an NEDC range of 650km.

The all-wheel drive Performance has a Squirrel Cage Induction Asynchronous Motor at the front and permanent magnet synchronous motor at the rear. Maximum power is 390kW while maximum torque is 670Nm. 0-100km/h takes 3.8 seconds. The NEDC range is 670km.

Both variants have a 82.56 kWh BYD Blade Battery which takes 32 minutes at 150kW to recharge from 30% to 80%. AC charging at 7 kW takes over 12 hours from 5% to 100% charge. There is also Vehicle-to-load.

The colour options are Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black and a new colour, Shark Grey.

The Seal Premium starts from RM171,800, the Seal Performance, from RM191,800. However, to celebrate the launch, there is a launch promotion package worth up to RM10,888 for the first 300 customers of the new BYD Seal. This includes a free wall charger, service package and a special launch rebate.

The vehicle warranty is six years or 150,000km, whichever comes first. The drive unit warranty is eight years of 150,000km, whichever comes first. Finally, the warranty on the high voltage Blade battery is eight years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.
