Auto Connexion-Ford Support 600 People Through Building Together Programme

Ford and Sime Darby Auto Connexion-Ford undertook an 11-day community programme as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility agenda. Over 55 volunteers delivered food aid and basic health services to marginalised communities across Klang Valley, Penang, Ipoh and Kuantan. The programme supported 600 people and is under Ford’s global ‘Building Together’ initiative.

Auto Connexion-Ford, the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, focused on B40 families, people with disabilities, single mothers, Asnaf Fakir and Miskin, and the Orang Asli.

The programme reached:

• Klang Valley: 200 people from B40, Asnaf and OKU groups.
• Penang: 100 people from B40 and Asnaf groups.
• Ipoh: 150 people from single mothers, B40 and Asnaf groups.
• Kuantan: 150 people from the Orang Asli community.

A key part of the effort was the Ford Mobile Clinic, a joint project by Auto Connexion-Ford, Yayasan Sime Darby, Ford Philanthropy and MyFundAction. Health teams travelled to all four areas to provide basic care.

Ford leaders said the initiative showed the company’s aim to work with partners and volunteers to support local needs. Auto Connexion-Ford noted that the programme followed Ford’s global plan to combine staff and dealer efforts for community work.

MyFundAction and Ford dealers helped manage on-ground work. The Malaysian programme formed part of Ford’s Global Caring Month and contributed to the Global Auto Dealer Food Drive, which involved 1,600 dealers in 31 countries and collected more than 907,000 kg of food.

The Building Together Programme is a continuation of Auto Connexion-Ford’s past community projects in Malaysia. These include the Clean Water Project in Gerik and Operation Better World in Kuala Lumpur.
