All-new Mazda CX-5 launched

The all-new Mazda CX-5 is now available in Malaysia. The SUV is assembled at Bermaz’s plant in Kulim, Kedah. Two fuel variants, petrol or diesel are offered. Petrol variants are only available with front-wheel drive while for diesel there is a choice between front or four-wheel drive. All variants have six-speed automatic transmission.

For the petrol 2.0-litre engine which produces 162bhp and 210Nm of torque, there are two specs, the base model GL and the higher GLS spec. Both come with 17″ rims. The difference between the two is that the GL spec has different dashboard trim and does away with keyless entry, multi-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps and the advanced safety technologies, of which more details can be found below.

The 2.5-litre only comes in GLS trim. The 2.5-litre engine produces 192bhp and 257Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre diesel comes in, GLS trim for both the two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. Engine output is 173bhp with 420Nm of torque. 19″ rims are standard for the 2.5-litre petrol GLS and the 2.2-litre diesel.

Standard safety features include six airbags, ABS with stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, emergency brake assist, traction control, emergency stop signal and hill-start assist along. For improved driving dynamics, Gravity Vectoring Control is provided.

Newly introduced in the CX-5 are a series of advanced safety technologies which include Adaptive LED Headlights, Adaptive Front-Lighting System, Smart City Brake System, Lane Departure Warning System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane-Keep Assist System, Driver Attention Alert.

Eight colours are offered in total , Deep Crystal Blue, Sonic Silver, Meteor Grey, Jet Blac with three premium colours Machine Grey, Snowflake White Pearl and the signature Soul Red Crystal. Premium colours cost RM2,000 more

The price for the 2.0-litre GL starts from RM134,205.50, 2.5-litre GLS from RM160,596.70, and the 2.2-litre diesel from RM164,179.10  for the two-wheel drive (all prices OTR without insurance).

Mazda Peaceful Ownership Program
Bermaz has increased the Manufacturing Warranty period from 3 years to 5 years. All new Mazda vehicles registered from 1st February 2017 will enjoy 5 Years/100,000km Manufacturing Warranty and 3 Years/60,000km Free Maintenance. Customers will be able to enjoy a peaceful ownership with an absolute 3 year free scheduled maintenance according to manufacturer’s standards. The 5 Years Manufacturing Warranty and 3 Years Maintenance applies to all models except the BT-50 pickup.
