CKD BMW 218 Gran Coupé M Sport launched at BMW Clubhouse

The CKD BMW 218 Gran Coupé M Sport is now available in Malaysia. Only 50 units are available in the first allocation. The model is assembled in Kulim. The unveiling took place at BMW Clubhouse, which is at Factory 19 PJ from 17th to 19th July 2026.

The 2026 model replaces the BMW 218 Gran Coupé Sport unveiled in June 2025. The new model features a dynamic front end, with by the BMW Kidney Iconic Glow grille featuring vertical and diagonal kidney bars. Adaptive LED headlights frame the grille, with vertical daytime running lights that create BMW’s signature four-eyed light graphic both day and night. There is anti-glare high-beam with integrated cornering function. The low, wide kidney grille enhances the vehicle’s planted stance, while a centrally split lower air intake adds visual aggression. Vertical side air intakes emphasise width and improves the aerodynamics.

In profile, the Gran Coupé silhouette is distinguished by new M Sport package features. These include Individual High-Gloss Shadowline trim with extended content along the window surrounds and 18-inch M light alloy wheels in Y-spoke Style 975M Bicolour.

In addition, there is high-gloss black exterior mirrors with mirror caps finished in body colour, alongside Exterior Line Satin Aluminium trim on the side. There is a revised window graphic that flows toward the rear, culminating in the signature Hofmeister kink embossed with the number “2” — a hallmark of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé lineage. At the rear, vertical LED taillights underscore the vehicle’s width. There is also a new aggressive M Sport rear diffuser. The New BMW 218 Gran Coupé M Sport is still the same length at 4.55 metres and also wheelbase.

Under the bonnet, the 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine remains unchanged, operating on the Miller cycle for enhanced thermodynamic efficiency. The engine delivers 115 kW (156 hp) and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch, now equipped with paddle shifters. The car is front-wheel drive. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 230 km/h.

The model’s chassis is based on a single-joint MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a three-link rear axle, with almost all components comprehensively reengineered compared to the previous generation. Highly prestressed stabilisers work in conjunction with optimised axle kinematics to deliver precise steering and increased agility.

The directly controlled wheel slip limitation (ARB) system improves traction within milliseconds, while directional stability, cornering performance, and ride comfort benefit from chassis refinements throughout. There is now Adaptive M Suspension which improves driving dynamics. This allows the vehicle to balance responsive handling with composed comfort across varied road surfaces, retaining the sporty driving characteristics while adapting to driver preference and road conditions/

Exterior refinements include 18-inch M light alloy wheels in Style 975M Bicolour, Individual High-Gloss Shadowline with extended content, and an M Sport rear diffuser.

There is now Driving Assistant Plus, upgraded advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features, and Parking Assistant Plus.

The new BMW 218 Gran Coupé M Sport is available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Brooklyn Grey, and Portimao Blue. Inside the upholstery is Black Veganza Perforated for all exterior colours. Coral Red Veganza Perforated is available exclusively with Black Sapphire exterior.
