BYD Atto 3 facelift now available in two drivetrains, the front-wheel drive Ultra and rear-wheel drive Premium
The BYD Atto 3 facelift is now in Malaysia, available with two drivetrains, the front-wheel drive Ultra at RM125,800 and the rear-wheel drive Premium at RM138,8000.
In the update, there is now a new front bumper design. At the rear, there is a new light design for the taillight. There’s also a new design for the 18-inch rims. At the C-pillar, in place of the textured metal plate, is dark glass. Both variants look the same from the outside.
For the Ultra, the biggest update is in the DC charging rate, up now to 110kW from the 80kW previous. Otherwise, the powertrain remains the same, a front-mounted 150kW (201hp) motor which produces 310Nm of torque. The BYD Blade battery is 60.48kWh as before. The AC on-board charger is still 7kW. The NEDC range is as before, 480km or approximately 420km WLTP. The suspension also remains the same, MacPherson struts in front and multi-link at the rear.
The Premium is all-new for Malaysia. For the first time, the Atto 3 is available as a rear-wheel drive. The front suspension is dual-ball joint Macpherson struts while the rear is a five-link multi-link suspension. The BYD Blade battery is 74.88kWh and power output is now 230kW (308hp) with 380Nm of torque. The AC on-board charger is 11kW and the DC charging rate is up to 220kW. The NEDC range is 600km which is approximately 510km WLTP.
Inside both the Ultra and Premium, the interior is now all black with yellow stitching and there are more soft touch surfaces. In addition, both the driver and front passenger have ventilated seats. The Ultra driver’s seat is six-way power adjustable while and front passenger’s seats is four-way power adjustable. In the Premium, both driver’s and front passenger’s seats are six-way power adjustable but the driver’s seat also gets four-way lumbar adjustment. There is a panoramic sunroof and also 50W wireless charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The dashboard has been redesigned. The gear lever on the centre console is now a gear stalk on the right-hand side of the steering column in both the Ultra and the Premium so the indicator stalk is now on the left, European-style. The infotainment monitor has been increased to 15.6-inch and no longer rotates while the digital instrument cluster panel is now 8.8-inch. There’s single-zone automatic air-conditioning in the Ultra while it’s automatic dual-zone in the Premium.
The different drive trains have resulted in different boot volumes. The front-wheel drive Ultra has 434 litres which is expandable up to 1340 litres with the rear seats down while the rear-wheel drive Premium has 490 litres, expandable up to 1360 litres with an additional 101 litres from a frunk.
